Where to start
I have a 99' gs and wondering where to start on performance mods. Any suggestions? The car is completely stock. I have a set of springs and shocks on the way. I has a set of Eibach springs on it now but they actually rasied the car 2 inches which sucks. Fender gap in the front is tremendous. I posted pics in the gallery.

first i'd say make sure your car is in perfect running order...meaning plugs are good, wires are good, fluids are tip top and all hoses are good as well. then start with the basics..you 2GNT guys have A LOT more available to you than us 1GNT guys do..but id say start with your intake first, i even think they make a cold air extension for you guys which would help a whole bunch. from there youve got exhaust, a header, UDP, cams and gears, pistons and rods if you feel like it...lots of stuff to choose from..but you gotta have the cash heres a couple links of good parts vendors....

My car is 99 and is in perfect running condition due to the fact it on has 30,000 miles on it. Poor thing is just barely broke in. Just purchased it not long ago and got a good deal on it. IT was a demo car then sat for awhile. It ended up at a small dealership and I seen it and didn't beleive it was a 99 at first with as good of condition as it is in and the extremly low miles on it. The car is like showroom condition. So it is perfect for mods. HEhe

Few things:
a) you dont need 4000 to turbo your car. You can do it a hell of alot cheaper then that.
b) The most basic mods would prob. come first.
1)intake
ebay intakes should be fine, the gains from the $300 intakes as opposed to the $20 dollar intakes are minimal. Whoop dee fu3king do you freed up 2 hp and spent 280 more then me... for the money you can gain more hp other places.
2)exausht
replace the tiny stock exhaust with a nice 2.5cat back setup. again, nice setups for under $250
3)udp
one of the best mods you can do for NT (420a), frees up a ton of hp, you'll really feel it. ~$150
Now... after you have those you have some options...
You can go the turbo route... meaning you wouldnt want to buy new headers; you'll end up replacing them with a new exhaust manifold anyway. You can make a custom turbo setup for $1500 or less depending on if you go w/ used parts, how big turbo etc.. etc.. OR you can buy a hahn or a star kit... although they cost around 3 grand... maybe worth it if you dont like to research / fiddle with sh1t.
OR
You can lean to NITROUS. Nitrous will put your car in the running with most stock turbo dsm's. Since you dont plan on going turbo w/ this option, get some nice 4-2-1 headers (more low end power then 4-1). A ZEX Wet nitrous kit will run you in the range of $600, but think about it... 75 shot! True, its not there all the time, but with computer managment (of fuel etc) its pretty damn safe (setup correctly and used correctly). The neat thing here, is that building up a 420a engine, and using nitrous, you'll have more low end torque before a turbo dsm spools MEANING if you get a nice launch you'll already be pulled ahead at WOT w/ your nitrous... not to bad!
Modding it out really isnt as expensive as you think....
Hope this helps,
Jim

Would you turbo his car, everything included, for less than $4000?

No. But he never said about having somebody else doing it... He could obtain the parts himself and do it or even have somebody put it in for less then 4k.

I can do all work myself that is no problem.. Very capable of turning wrenches. So mods would not be anything to do. If I can't get the gains I want out of a na engine I may turbo this one. Just want to get it to be quicker then the Laser before going the turbo route.
