Ok, so me and my girlfriend were riding home the other night about 2am and this guy pulls in a 2dr accord V6 with a couple of his buddies in the car and starts talking sh*t. When all he had was an exhuast. And we are both auto's. So we set up a race on this backstreet for $50. It was close at first then I pulled away by quite a distance. Then we stopped I collected my winnings. He was so pissed(we were laughing our asses off). Then he wanted 2 know what all I had done. Never one 2 blab all my secrets. I refused 2 say got in my car and drove off. 10min later him and 2 other cars are following me, I figure they're up 2 no good(alot of carjackings lately) so I try 2 ditch them. So we're fly down these back streets at over 100mph and its dark as hell. I pull a u-turn at about 40mph and when I come out of it I'm flooring it but the car doesn't want 2 go over 60. Finally it breaks out of the stall and I'm back close to 100. Then I make a hard right at about 40 onto another straight away the car kind of stalls again, butn this time when it breaks from the stall theres a loud pop followed by a huge cloud of smoke from under the hood, under the car and out my exhaust all at once. So I pull over immeadiately and oil is everywhere it comes out of the head and the oil pan. The guys following stop and come up 2 me and say"dude why where u trying 2 get away, we just wanted 2 tell u how bad ass your car is" Can u believe this stupid ass sh*t, they chased us for about 30min . Next day I had it towed 2 the dealer and they tell me something inside the engine broke and punched through the oil pan. But they don'y know what and they want 2 charge me $300 to disasemble it to find out. And if its toast I still have 2 replace it. So my question is first has this happen 2 anyone else? Second, Where's the best place 2 get another engine? The dealership also wants $2900 for new engine installed. So if this is a good price for a lightly used engine(under 50k) Wouldn't I be better off going Stroker. My last question is for anyone with a stroker or other race engine. Was it worth it? and Which engine setup you have? Sorry for such a long post I tried 2 shorten it as much as possible.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

Well, I don't have any clue what your problem is, however, there are many routes you can take for a new engine. You could go built with high comp pistons, ported head, stroker crank and the like. That would make some SERIOUS NT power. And wouldn't cost you much more than a stock replacement.

It might sound bad, but I did the same thing, but I couldnt get over 80 and then IT happend again. The smoke and pop was from the rod bearings, you are about to, (or already did) throw a rod. You might want to look asap. Sorry for the news, but thats probably what it is.

Ok I need to know where the oil is comming from. Wehre in the head is it comming from? Where on the oil pan? Can you see the hole in the pan? This will help me diagnose what has happend. What was the oil level in the car at the time of the chase? Was it low, or had it been a while since you checked it? I ask this because hard cornering (like a 40mph turn) moves the oil in the oil pan. On a 40 MPH right hand turn the oil in the motor will shift to the left side of the pan, away from the pump. So more than likely when you pulled those hard turns you starved the engine of oil and that killed it. Basicly you took your oil pressure to almost nothing. So here is the problem, if the car was not able to pump oil you may have damaged some top end parts as well. Are you able to work on your car yourself? If so you should get it back and start tearing it down to see what really needs to be replaced. You can get a 2.2L stroker motor from howell for 2300 but that does not include install though. Nor does it include a new head if you broke anything up there. I have the 2.2L engine and am very very happy with it. Get back to me with some more details and I will let you know what I think, but I'm pretty sure you starved the engine of oil causing at least spun rod bearings. But to be brutaly honest with you, you prolly threw a rod or 2 and locked some pistons in the bore. I don't know for sure, but I would reccomend you start saving some loot and quickly.

First off thanks everyone 4 all your help. You are probably right Kirby, my oil level was lower than normal. For some reason my car had been burning oil up between oil changes. I change the oil every 3k but sometimes the warning light came on before then. So I had been checking it every week. But hadn't in the last 2 weeks. I may be able 2 do the work myself. The only motor I have pulled and installed was in a Honda, Is it more difficult with DSMs? Luckily I had been saving up 2 go turbo so I have about $2,000. How long did it take for you to get your Stroker? I heard complaints about how long it takes. Also would it possibly be cheaper 2 buy a used engine and just build it up before I install it? Last thing does anyone know any good sites for a stock engine?

Thanks again for any assistance.

Wow, that really sucks. I would take it anywhere but satan (aka the dealership). Maybe you could find a used engine with low mileage at a local junkyard or something for dirt cheap....n/t eclipses are a dime a dozen sort of thing. Then just have a local mechanic install it, they usually charge $40-60/hour and it shouldn't take them more than 4-5 hours.

I can assure you the dealership will charge top dollar though. I needed a new MAS air sensor...they wanted $350, I got one at a junkyard for $50. And just recently I had some electrical problems....the dealership wanted $780 for a wiring harness alone (plus $60/hour for labor), I worked on the problem myself for about 2 days and fixed it...spent absolutley nothing. So don't give up (or give in) just yet. I know just how you're feeling right about now.

BTW, what mods do you have? Why not just tell them what you had? I think running made you look kind of suspicious. You should be thankful it's just your car that fugged up and you didn't kill yourself or your girl running from them.

Alright, so it sounds like you can afford some downtime. The howell block will prolly take a little while, but I would call to ask. Since it's their slow season, they were trying to have some prebuilt to ship out real fast. If you can pull a honduh motor you can pull yours. Just get a factory manuel or a chiltons and go to town. Just be sure to replace each bolt you remove or get a lot of ziplock bags and a marker and label everything. If you want to do the work your self then you can, but I would reccomend getting a rebuild kit and pulling the block yourself, then taking it to a machiene shop to have it assembled. You may also want to take a look at VT engines. They have fast turn around times and can also sell you a rebuild kit. If you go with them you can pull the block and send it to them, then they will build it and send it back. You could do all the building yourself, but it's a lot of work and you need a lot of special tools to do it. Plus you will have to get the block bored anyway, so why not let them put it together and balence everything. So I guess the first ? you need to answer is do I want a 2.2L or a 2.0L. Once you know that then you can start your reasearch. Also I would not buy a used engine to build unless you have yours out and know it can't be rebuilt. I would rebuild my block before I bought a used one to rebuild.
