hey guys, i need some advice on what i should do with the graduation money i'm going to be getting. i could get new rims, but the downside is that they have to be 16s because i just recently got new tires, or i could get a apex n-1 cat back and an AF/X udp. i was also thinking of maybe getting a set of fidanza cam gears since theyre cheaper than the AEM ones or maybe if i do have enough money i'll get the aem ones. The exhaust and udp a friend and myself can install but i know the cam gears require an expert but i have 80k miles and will be replacing the timing belt soon anyway so i figure it will keep the installation price down if i'm replacing the timing belt. sorry for the long post, please serious suggestions only. thanks for the help guys :thumb:

Put it away in a savings account and prepare yourself for your future, such as a house, vacation, kids maybe, kids tuition. You drive an n/t spending money on its pointless. Look what i did and im getting rid of it soon.

its true there isn't much you can do with a n/t if you don't go turbo. you CAN get pretty good gains if your going to build the motor and port alot of stuff, but your talking a serious investment. I'd go with the N1 adn then injen intake.

Move out and use it on an apartment..... thats probably what I will have to do...... as much as I want to get my car looking/performing well... I doubt girls go for a guy who ends up being 25 with a tight Eclipse, but still lives at home......

Only high school girls and pre-teens care about what kind of car guys drive. All my friends who are girls look more for someone that has a career in life. Not a mad tyte eclipse.

I find it funny when someone says there car gets the girls, take that car away and now your home beatin' it to porn

i've got a girl and i plan on keeping this car and eventually retiring it from daily driver to a project car or drag car. i'm already accepted and registered for college and my parents are taking care of the costs of that (i'm sure i'll end up paying some how)

well i would say save it but it sounds like u got made anyways. so i would say get a cold air intake. the cam gears don't add much i heard but the udp's do. i would suggest getting the rims also or else get some coilover or lowing springs. that looks tight.

Oh comon guys...Your guys hobbie is cars, you know as well as I do that money would be going towards your car.

Definately do not waste your money on cam gears, they would really serve no purpose being your sticking them on a stock motor. I would definately start off with rims (as I did). Sell the 16" tires on ebay or to someone locally, and get at least a little bit back of what you payed, and slap some 18" or 19"'s on there. That's if you like the big nice rims, some people do the 15" which are really light, but aren't as flashy.

so can anybody give me a good answer? i have 16 inch Motegi MR8s right now but since they came on the car when i bought it i dont have anything for the winter and it seems like the person before me didnt either so they are getting a little pitted. im thinking of waiting on the rims and probably getting 17 inch konigs or enkeis or maybe oz, something nice and decent size without too much weight.

you should get the rims you ahve now fixed and then buy some cheap american racing wheels for the winter. their like $60 a wheel or cheaper. you should get an exhaust system for your first performance mod with that you get a more authoritive sound and an HP gain as well.

Save the money because if you are not living at home it is extremely expensive to live away from home, and unless you are one of my roomates whos parents pay for everything, even drinking money then you will spend alot. I spent $2200 in about 6 months. Sorry man but I know from experience.

ok, I think you should use the money for your future. Your parents are probably telling you the same thing. If you spend it on your car, get an exhaust. you already have the intake so an exhaust is almost manditory. With the extra get UDP's. They add a nice boost. However if you get an alternator udp don't get a system. You won't be able to handle the power. I know from experience. Cam gears won't give you a huge gain, but it will give you something. If your changing your timing belt anyway, I say find a cheap set and go for it. You could get a set of springs, but that could lead to a lot more. I bought coil overs and ended up replacing everything. You could also get an ignition with a rev limiter. Those are a lot of fun. Upgrading your fuel injectors will help your N/T also. Theirs a lot of stuff out there, but I know the exhaust and UDP's will boost you quite a bit. You won't be fast until you either do a complete rebuild or go turbo. IM me if you have any other questions.

thanks for a real reply with some good advice. my parents actually don't care if i spend the money on my car because theyre happy to see me doing good in school and going into college. i'm going to look into things and try to get a better estimate on prices to help plan out all that i will be able to do.

no its not pointless to spend money on ur n/t. you work with what you got. of course ur not gonna get ur n/t crazy fast but you can make it quick. i want alot of speed so i went out and bought a 1g tsi. and my n/t is my daily driver. i would say get exhaust and a cai.

off topic but i ran into a turbo metro....the turbo was hidden under the engine and shit...ran 14's, scary huh?
