Clutch Info need help fast

Here's the story.... i bought a clutch off of howell automotive for my eclipse 98 gs.... it was the spec stage 2....

well when i got the clutch it came in 2 pieces the pressure plate and i guess the friction thing w\e u call it .....

my centerforce clutch that is burnt to shit... ( piece of crap dont buy it).... well when i installed it with my friend last year...everything came in 1 piece.... and just bolt onto the fly wheel

my ? is... how do i install the spec when there is 2 pieces ..... thanx need help asap

The clutch disk need's to be aligned in the middle of the pressure plate and right in the middle of the flywheel, use the alignment tool that came with the kit, if it didn't come with one, get one from any autoparts store. Pm me if you have anymore questions,

i would say yes. it's alway good practice to check your flywheel and resurface it when your in the process if changing clutches.

im about to install my spec stage 2 clutch... now are you guys sure it should fit?... because this is my stock clutch

Did you buy the SPEC 2 that included the fidanza flywheel?

If so, I believe that mates to the pressure plate with the disk in the middle, self-aligned.

The real question you need to answer for yourself, first, is whether or not your clutch is a modular or non-modular setup. Your stock setup is a modular (all one piece: pressure plate, clutch disk, flywheel). What you bought may be one or the other.

If it's modular, all you do, is put the flex plate ( a flat plate with starter teeth on its perimeter) back on to the engine crankshaft. Then remember to put the old centering ring on the back of the new flywheel, if it's required. You've shown a link to the fidanza flywheel, so I doubt that it's necessary. Then attach the fidanza flywheel to the clutch disk/pressure plate package. And lastly, mate the flywheel/disk/ pressure plate to the flex plate. Slap the tranny back on (not easy) with the splines matching up.

If it's non-modular, you do basically all the same as above with one exception. There's no flexplate, and you'll need to carefully align the clutch disk in the center before re-attaching the tranny. A clutch alignment tool will make this much easier to do.

If I were you, I'd call Howell, and get the complete picture.
