rubbin noise, and rough 2nd gear

My 2nd gear is rough going into. What can i do to help it be smooth? Also there is a high pitched rubbing noise in my engine. It may be my timing belt but it still sounds when i take the cover off of it. What could it be?

you could try some trans. fluid conditioner and put it into your fluid.

ive heard about a metal plate with some rubber washers are under the shift boot and it bends when u shift and makes the gears hard to go into> is that true?

i'm not sure about that one.... All the metal linkage and stuff looks preety strong from the outside.... I think you'd have to be shifting pretty hard to bend something....

i dont know if they make it for your car, but someone thru club dsm makes a shifter kit to clean up the shifting by using stiffer washers and so fourth, maybe try thru there. Ill look to.

Are you refering to the Symborski shift kit? You can get them from Mach V. http://www.machv.com/symshifkit1.html

As for the fluid, try the BG Syncroshift. http://www.machv.com/bgsynchroshift.html

I've had that rubbing noise on several of my cars and it's always been the timing belt cover . Either the belt on the cover from the cover warping or the harmonic balancer's coming apart and hiting it with the a/c belt!!

yes that is the kit, but somwone one club dsm was selling a similar kit as well, thanks
