and it hauls ass, but my question is this. I used Flex tubing to run from the intake back into the half cut black tube and clamped it down. It was a great mod for 50 bucks but now that ive got more money, i'd like to get rid of the nasty look and lost hp from having flex tubing (inside of tube is jagged and causes loss of hp).

I was wondering if anyone else here has put on a non ghetto rigged front mount CAI (looks similar to intercooler). Im not sure if their made specifically for our cars because i had to sand down part of the inside of the bumper to get it back on because there isnt enough space between teh bumper and the radiator. If you have one or know of someone who does tell me where i could find the tubing that is made for something like this.

i can get pics if anyone is interested, it looks real nice from the front and doubled the hp i received from my old intake

are you talking about something like this? I've only seen this kind of cai installed on swift gt

well thanks for being a d1ck, but try asking more questions before assuming things such as
1. do i have a grill mesh in front of it? (umm yea so good luck finding that rock that will tear through both)
2. Where did i say im proud of this? i said it was a cheap effective upgrade
3. double the hp from my old intake was an ESTIMATE being somewhat accurate since i had both and noticed a much larger gain in hp

its a nice product and idea, but i wouldnt put that on my car. its main purpose is to look like a fmic. i think their is a better chance of getting water in it so im not into that.

hell, who cares what it looks like if it works right? and if he puts an aem bypass valve in, that get rid of the water issue, I agree its main use is to look like a FMIC, but like I said, if its effective, who cares(I personally would use a K&N filter right behind one of the air holes in the bumper cover to get a ram air effect, but its the same type of thing) anyway, good for you, I like it when people use imagination for a new part, if I were you though that tubing has got to go, go to a muffler shop and get a 2 1/2" pipe mandrel bent for your application, I'm sure it wont cost that much, and the flow would be much better than dryer hose type stuff, paint the pipe whatever color you want, or polish it and put a clearcoat of paint on it and there you go(also go with a couple mandrel bent pieces, it will make it easier to put on)

if you have old intake pipes why dont you hack them up and make it look a lil nice on the inside insted of all the flex pipe ??? just an idea go to pepboys and by a cheep cai kit and run that down to the flex pipe

thanks for the ideas, i'll check out a muffler shop sometime soon. Part of the reason i like this mod is that not many people have it. Its something people will wonder what it is n stuff and not have already seen hundreds. + the filter color i got matches my cars paint perfectly so it adds a nice look to it. And to answer one ur questions, my last intake was made of flex tubing two LOL thats why i didnt use that old piping.

it shouldn't be about looks but about performance and I think it should give more power than regular CAI. The one I saw, guy had it done in black and a mesh in front of it, he also put a by-pass valve. When he first put it in ( still bright orange color) it did look like an intercooler.

basicly waht you have is a type of ram air set up sounds cool .what i did was make a fiberglass pocket that fits over my aem cai filter and in to the lower left hand air dam hole with the grill craft gril on it you would never know. anywahy good luck
oh yeah invest in a water bypass valve you dont want that filter to become a big straw
