interesting thread, since im interested, gonna help keep it up.
Not homemade, but from what i've read, a Jeep Throttle Body is quite nice, not too expensive.. i think Toney is selling a kit now, comes with everything.

if you have acess to a welder you can make your exhaust. buy mandrel bent sections, buy 1 or 2 legnths of exhaust piping, get a resonator if you want one, stainless flex sections, and a muffler and you can fab your own exhaust. just follow the bends in the stock exhaust and weld the sections together.

heres another i came up with. take 2 mandrel bent sections of aluminum, make the bends nessacery for a intake to sit by the fender, dont weld the sections together, put a aem bypass valve between the 2 pipes to join them together and it protects from hydroloc.
on a 1g i figured out a way to run a cold air extension on a injen intake but you dont have a 1g.

If you have cold air, you can also run a piece of dryer hose from one, or both, of the front "holes" in the fascia to your cold air. It helps bring in cooler air, and if sealed to the filter could function as a homemade "ram-air." While it probably won't show any noticeable power gain, it sure can't hurt (I haven't had a problem with water getting into the intake).

Just remembered another one. You can fill your stock motor mounts with a rubbish compund, I can't remember the specifics, I'm sure you can find a write-up somewhere on the site. It'll help keep your motor from moving around when you launch and help put more power to the ground. You can also gut your catalytic convertor, though it will smell for awile and affect your exhaust tone. Another cheap mod is replacing your spark plugs. While your at it, gap the plugs out a bit farther than stock. Depending upon whether the spark plugs in the car (when you bought it) are worn out or not, your car will idle smoother, and accelerate a bit better (not a huge difference).

also you can remove the rubber stopper from behind the gas petal that way you can go full throttle instead of 89%.

There's a stopper that keeps the gas pedal from going all the way down? I didn't know that. Looks like it's coming off tomorrow!

i dont think it really stops the pedal. i have no carpet at this point in time and my pedal hits the floor completely.

Is that why that rubber bumper is there for...so the pedal won't stick in the carpet? If so then I think that I will just adjust my throttle body. What good is a little more response if you rearend someone.

if you take that stop off, your throttle plate will go past being flat and actually block the flow of air going into the engine, so dont do that. some free mods for the 2Gs would consist of, taking the stock air box and drilling 2.5" holes in it using a drill with a hole saw bit. Note: This should be done in front of the filter, as in the part closest to the fender. Another mod is to use PVC piping to make a CAI, the most expensive part is buying the filter which is about 40 bux, Ive done both in the past, but if you buy a cheapo CAI off of ebay you will see larger gains. I suggest you save your money and come up with 80bucks for one. If you want to see the write up for all these mods, go to www.2gnt.com home page

Should i gut my cat? I have a 2g awd, it has a aftermaket universal muffler when i baught it and its pretty deep but not very loud. I was thinking of taking it out and using a big press and sticking a pipe in it? will this work? How important is it to have a cat?
