P/S Rack Question

I have a pretty major power steering leak on my car. I Put it up on the lift at work and noticed it was coming from the boot where the inner tie rod goes into the rack. So I pulled the Boot off and was soaked with power steering fluid which sucked. But my Question is if i can get around replacing the whole rack and just go to the parts store and buy the seal where that inner tie rod goes and if i can what would be the technical name for it so i can call around a get a price. i think you have to replace the entire rack a pinion. i have never heard of being able to just replace the seal

I Was Just hoping To not have to Remove The Rack Cause It Looks like a pain.

i would check around just to make sure. but am 95% sure you have to replace the hole assembly.

thanks I am going to look on google and see if i cant find something on there. I have a feeling that it is going to come in a kit which means that im going to have to remove the rack anyways so i might just replace the whole thing if all else fails.Thanks for the fast reply.

I rebuilt my rack with a rebuild/reseal kit I got from Rockauto. It's like $65-70. I think the non turbos use the same rack but you'd have to check on there to make sure. I don't know if it's something you can do without removing the rack, probably not. I have a tech article out there on my rebuild if you want to check that out.

Yeah I Just Found The Kit For like 60 dollars Thats Much Cheaper Than 300 for a Reman. thanks for your help

where is the powersteering rack located on a 2g 99 420a eclipse?

The Power Steering Rack Is Located Directly Behind The Motor Under Neath. The Easiest Way to Find It If You are still having problems is to follow one of your tie rods up and it goes directly into the rack.

im removing my powersteering and will like to know what i need to do to remove it sucssefully i think i know what to do but i think im missing a few steps can someone if possible help me out thanks just let me know step by step if you can ill appreciate it...

You Are Going To Loop The Lines? Are You Trying To Delete The Power Steering On Your Car Or Are You Trying To Remove The Rack?

Another Alternative I Have Found If You Were Interested Is THat You Can Eliminate The Power Rack And Go To A Manual Rack .Which Is The Best Option I Have The Link If You Are Interested But I Dont Know How To Do It .But You Should Post A New Thread If You Want To Find Out.
