97 eclipse 420a ... I have a cold air intake on my eclipse. i accidental hit a puddle in reverse, sucked up water into my engine thankfully all that happened was a broke piston. over the weekend we popped out the engine to get the piston out and need to have it honed. the company told me the gash in the piston wall was deep. and had to overbore it .02 over, is there anything else i need to do when i put it back together. or should it work fine even with slightly bigger pistons ? i read somewhere to flip the cam gears over to read 2.4 instead of 2.0, is this correct.
swift response would be great, need to have it back in next week. :::

You are on the right path and it sounds like somebody is pulling your string. WHen in doubt think logically. The CAM gears for the 2.0 and 2.4 non turbo are the same they are marked 2.0 and 2.4 it will not change anything if you flip them over as long as the timing marks line up. Good luck and welcome!

Lol i'm sorry but flipping the gears will change it quite up bit as in it won't work. If you look close enough, them gears have a offset on them. If you flip it over on the 2.4 side then your timing belt will not line up on the gears. They will stick out too far.

That's not true, the timing marks are different for the 2.4L engine and the 2.0L engine. When you replace the gears, make sure "2.0L" is facing you (away from the head). Do not flip them around so "2.4L" is facing you.
