Hey guys I'm new to this place. I been on 2gnt a long time and iv had my 2g N/A for more than 2 years. I have always wondered about this under drive pulley. I have heard its one of the best upgrades but it drains the battery. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

A lot of us use them and they do make a noticeable difference. I have never noticed it draining the battery but I can see where it may be an issue at idle since the alternator is turning slower.

I've never heard of an underdrive pulley causing the battery to die, given a properly functioning charging system. Most 2gnt'rs use them, and seemingly all with positive results.

Had mine for almost a decade and no serious problems other than the fact that its a real pain in the ass to install. I've done it like 5 times already. I don't have any issues with the battery or runnings sound equipment. I used to throw belts a lot but that's because I didn't have it installed all the way in so it wasn't aligned properly I think.

just remember if you have to install one particularly the AFX on bake it really good, I had it in the oven until the oil was smokin off of it. You should be able to just slide it in easy if not bake it longer.

Most underdrive pullies are designed to be pressed on like the AFX pulley. The clearance is very tight its not easy getting it on and if you can get it all the way in like I said the belt will be out of alignment. Aluminum expands a lot when heated, more so than steal or cast iron. Now you can use a torch to heat up the pulley and put it on but a torch doesn't heat the pulley very uniformly. The best way is to put it in an oven and bake it. So if you bake it enough it'll expand enough where all you have to do is just push it in by hand.

Take your pick if you want to sped a lot of effort pounding the pulley on with a mallet, or gun it in with an impact gun and possibly mess up you crank or bolts, or just slide it in like a hot knife through butter.
