Question Turbo suggestions

Sorry to drag up another turbo suggestions thread, but none of what Ive read has been of much help. Im researching pretty much every part individually for my build and Im stuck on the turbo. Im shooting to have my car at 350-400 HP and would like something that can easily handle that and also has a pretty quick spool time. One of my friends suggested the T3/GT40 Blowzilla, but Ive never heard of it, anyone know anything about it? Or any other suggestions? Im trying to keep to $1000 or less. Thanks again

I didn't know a GT40r came with a T3 housing if that's what he meant... But anyway a GT40, like a 4088r or something, that's way too big for your goals in my opinion, it would take a long time to spool, and it's suitable for way more power than you're aiming for.

Try looking at people's profiles on here to see what size turbos they run, maybe that would help. There's so much out there it's hard to just "buy xyz turbo, it will be perfect."

Yeah the gt40r in comon gt4088r or gt4094r form is a 700hp turbo. I would not suggest anyone turbo over another because there are so many different options and what not but I would look into holset and borg turbos. Especially holset. WHile I'm bias because I have one you still can't beat reliable turbos that are proven that can be had for less than $600

First thing you need to do is pick a footprint(T3,T4,Mitsubishi) then you can gauge what turbo you want and what will fit your needs. I would suggest a t3 with a ar of somewhere between .63 and .82 no bigger. My goals aren't that much different than yours. I want to make more power but I still wanted moderate spool and I went holset with BEP .70ar t3 HX40.

Well, start here;

[RESOLVED] BW s256 boost issues!

And have some more fun;

Borg Warner S200 (Bullseye S256) Review

Hell, I didn't even read through this one;

BW S256 Question

So you wanna go bigger?;

S362 installed with pics

Meh let's go for more than you want;

I was dead set on a 4088 until I read this...

And now for my thread on it:

Oh wait, I haven't done one

These turbos have generated a lot of interest/chatter in the Honda world. They are just starting to generate interest in our world. The s200's or s256's seem to be pretty nice street turbos (of course depending on their match up to your set-up). I'll let you read through to get an idea of the benefits of this turbo. It will do you good to spend some time reading through.

That's why you need to look into holset turbo's. Very similar performance even same exhaus housings yet a lot less money

Its for a 420A. I have a pretty good idea of the supporting mods Ill need. Granted its awhile until I buy all those supporting mods since Im still in the process of building the engine with all the goodies before it gets turbo-ed but it doesnt hurt to get my grocery list if you will of things to buy as the project progesses. In the end this engine will have about 8 grand under the hood.

i agree i have a 4088r and it collects dust...... noone will run it.... but look up turbonetics website sub category t3/t4 hybrids all there turbos spool very quickly and can handle 350+ but the also have a very Frankenstein turbos where they put a good size comp housing to boost high and a small exhaust housing to spool quick...... and the price tag is well worth it. just find which turbo you want and search on dsm classifieds, ebay, or just google some distributors.

Frick, I remember seeing a website that was kind of like a FAQ for 420a. It had a pretty large write up on selecting a turbo, I don't know how great of a write up it was but it looked informative. I can't find it... It was just a website that answered a bunch of questions.

Does that mean you're trying to sell it? Haha my buddy's got a 3082 on his MR2, think he put down 550 to the wheels, and he is bored with the power now (don't know how that's possible, driving his car scares the crap outta me lol). He mentioned thinking about a 4088 a while ago.

No, some site I have only seen the once, it was when I was trying to find out if the neon DOHC pistons are the same as ours. I can't remember what I googled to find the site though. Tried to find it for like half an hour but couldn't . I should have bookmarked it...
