i replaced my clutch and i had to take out the whole hub and axle. ### i couldnt get the axle out of the hub. well when i was trin to get it out we banged on it with a rubber hammer and a socket. well now when im done and im puttin everything back in place. the end of the axle is a little bent. the first thread is smashed. what do i need to do to save the axle.

Try to file the thread down, till you can get the nut on, or be carefull and grind it down with a grinder. good luck
Grinder's kinda like a machine gun to kill mosquitos. But he's right about carefully using a file to "rebuild" the threads. Or you could get the correct die and re-tap it.

We had that problem at the shop with another car , used a tap and die kit and went on no problems. If you don't have one maby a shop near by would do it for you , we have let a few people use ours on stuff like this. Goodluck.

Bwahahah, and I was killing mosquitos this morning. Had an emergency reason to put in an old, smushed on the end. stocker axle. And I DID use the grinder :p. Had to grind down the end to get to a good, full circle thread. Then I cleaned up a slot for the starting ramp of the thread. Not recomended for home use :shhh: See the pic.

You know some PB blaster prior to the attempt to removed a seized or corroded "anything" is helpful. Not to mention an anti seize lubricant is a great idea prior to re-installing a previously seized component.

In the future, when something is to big to use a die for, go get yourself a thread file- its a square file with 8 file-cut sides. (4 on one half, 4 on the other)
each file cut is for a diffrent TPI count. much easier, and perfect every time (as long as the threads have SOME life left, that is)

that, and your lucky. usually, when i try to kill mosquitos with a machine gun, i just shoot myself in the foot.
