im new to this forum and i have SOME limited knowledge of dsm's
im on my second eclipse rs.long story about the first one. ive always wanted an eclipse and im only 17. what they taught me in auto mech 1&2 didnt cover shit so...

im basically looking for a turbo kit. reliable and unexpensive. i kno the whole hahn racecraft kit backwards and forwards and im just lookin for an alternative route. (the $2g doesnt really excite me)

so if you have an alternative or some sites to help it would be appreciated.
thanx.

Most of these kits don't include appropriate fuel system upgrades. (I believe only the Hahn kit is complete in this manner) You will want to upgrade your fuel pump to a 190 or 255. (They cost the same, get the 255) If you will be happy running about 8psi of boost, an FMU would be the most economical route to managing fuel during boost. A Missing Link or Fuel Cut Defender (ML/FCD) will prevent you from hitting fuel cut during boost, and should be added to the shopping list as well.

If you intend on boosting around quite a bit, get a set of NGK BKR7E(S) spark plugs. If you won't be boosting very often, NGK BKR6E(S) should be ok, but read your plugs after a while to determine if a colder (or hotter) plug is warranted for your driving habits.

Otherwise, a healthy engine should not have a problem running 8psi.

Run the tank as close to empty as possible before the install, and fill with premium fuel. Invest in a boost gauge, and either a EGT or WBO2 sensor and gauge to keep an eye on things.

would it be more sensible to just swap for a 1g gs-t motor?
i say 1g b/c ive heard of the whole crankwalk problem with the 7 bolt motors
i mean the price for the motor is about the same as it would be to turbo my car?

wow thanks alot.
i appreciate it:thumb:

I just realized you had a '95 model. Many 95's don't seem to require a ML or FCD, so contrary to my last post, try first without it. If you experience fuel cut, (a horrible jerking or loss of power) know right away to install a ML/FCD.

A 4g63 will not "drop in" to a 2gnt engine bay. Much fabrication and rewiring is needed, (and likely money, as well) and afterwards you end up with a factory stock turbo engine that is, if you even get it running properly, less potent than a boosted 420a motor.

This gets brought up once or twice a month, and the consensus is always that the ends is not worth the means. To be honest, it would be most sensible to work with the motor you have already.

yea i knew it wasnt going to be easy and the wiring harness wouldnt just magically "snap togther" and the motor mounts would have to be redone.
ive just heard so many ppl sayin swap for the 4g and youll get so much more outta it. sad thing about that is most of those guys have owned nothing but hondas. can you say owned? LOL well alrite im def. going to go with the turbo'd 420a motor and i really do appreciate you guys' help on this.

thanks
