I have a 420a turbo eclipse 97. Yesterday when I took it for a drive I was in 5th gear going about 60 mph. Then I stepped on the gas made 5 psi as usual then. Then as i started slowing down I heard my car doing a weird noise, almost like a machine. then when I was trying to give it gas it felt like if it wanted to die on me. know when I try to boost I hardly boost 2 psi I checked to see if the FPR and FP was good and it seems to be great I have no leaks what so ever. sometimes my idles go below 1 when ever I come to a complete stop. also the car has turned off on me a couple of times when ever I try to turn it on sometimes or when i come to a complete stop. I don't know whats wrong. I have a new battery new spark plugs msd spark wires also sometimes it hesitates when I give it a little gas. Also it back fires and it never just to do that. so any ideas on what it could be. I was thinking it could be the FUEL INJETORS (stock injectors) but I am not sure. :(

What are you using for your MAP clamping? FCD, missing link?

The regular Missing link that as a filter in the side. Also the engine light blinks instead of just been on all the time and the battery light turns on when i am driving. slso on the back on the intake manifold there a a little port that sucks in air and when i put my finger to plug it up it trys to turn off. In my friends eclipse its plugged and runs good. Also one of the battery wholes some dont have any acid or water i dont know whats inside there my bro told me to fill them up with water but i dont know if thats a great idea.

they had told me that it could be the idle Air Control Valve how do i know if its this? where is it located at?

1. Get an FCD.
2. Blinking CELs usually indicate a critical condition, such as engine misfire. The cause should be apparent; if not, get the car scanned and avoid driving.
3. The car stutters because you're causing rapid vacuum fluctuations with your finger. If you block the port with the car turned off, then start it up, you shouldn't have a problem. Vacuum leaks are never good; take care of that right away.
4. Wet cell batteries (i.e. most car batteries) have aqueous sulfuric acid in them. Sometimes the water solvent degrades through electrolysis, depleting total fluid volume, but leaving the sulfuric acid solute. Adding more water should fix the problem.

definaely use sentances for your next post man....as far as I could tell your saying that the car doesn't miss when you pull out the number 3 cylinder, but I didn't see a 4 mentioned in your post so I'll assume you didn't check it out.

A compression test is a good starting point.

When you pulled he code, did you get one for the EGR....

according to your first post.......does it feel like when you step on the gas, your car is slow to react...almost like you know the throttle is open but the injector isn't adding fuel accordingly....something like this is currently happening to me, mostly when I'm at a dead step trying ot go up these damn seattle hills....I think its a timing issue, but I won't be able to confrim until I get retuned again

well the battery is good now. No more battery light. I checked the Spark Plugs and its not that spark plug wires or the Coil pack or the vacuum lines. I was getting a CEl for the Idle Air Control Valve so i took it out and cleaned it and that fixed the CEl but Im still getting misfire in cylinder 3 and 4. Cylinder 1 and 2 seem fine. When I remove the spark plug wire from Cylinder 3 the engine does not stumble at all and in Cylinder 4 it only stumbles very little. so my theories are that it could be my EGR VALVE but hoe do i know if its good or not? Or my Timing is off (whats the stock timing for a 420a 97?) or I think it can be a broken Head gasket? or it might be one of the injectors. I might run a compression test tomorrow but i want to know what i should do 1st?

I would say go witha compression test first. It could be that you may have a valve problem. When your car is running can you smell unbernt fuel??

Can one of you guys tell me what the base timing on the 420a is? Just in case the compression is ok, I want to check the timing next but dont know what the base timing should be. Also how would you know if your timing belt skipped would it make a sound because I could hear like a ticking sound coming from the timing belt area.

Base timing is 12* BTDC, but non adjustable.

You can remove the inspection cover on the timing belt cover to check for jumped time.

check your plugs on three and four cyl. and why your at it you can do a leak down test. do a dry compression test then stick a shoot glass size of oil in the cyl. and do a compression test you should get a higher reading if not you sucked a ring in or something in the valve train is bad. i also found that the dowel pins in the cams that hold the cam gears in time have broke before. good luck
