Before the flaming begins- I have a 91 GSX that is almost done and I own a 95 ESi. Once this GSX is done I want to start messing with the 420a. My buddy wrecked his 02 Grand Prix GTP and so the saga shall begin. Keep in mind this will still be the daily driver.

The aforementioned freind runs a machine shop that has done all my engine work on the GSX and said he can make a 420a manifold to adapt the M90 supercharger, I just have to but the materials.

What should I change on my car (other than allowing for pulley clearance on my right shock tower) to support this part. Other than adding a pulley and extra belt, it seems pretty straight forward.

I know there is not much experience here with s/c's but I dont want two turbocharged cars.

Fuel management...

It sounds like you have the mechanical aspects of the SC covered, but you need some sort of fuel management. Just like a turbocharger, you'll probably need an FCD and either an S-FMU or FMU. You can also go the slightly more complicated route of installing a stand alone.

Thanks for being helpful! It's much appreciated. :|

If you're looking to mess around with the GS, I suggest you worry about installation and getting power to the blower before you worry about fuel management. Fuel should be relatively easy in comparisson. The real challenge will come if you decide you would like to aftercharge it.

How much boost are you looking to make with this thing? Have to be careful, here. Get too crazy and you might just pop the old girl in short order.

Supercharging isn't such a big deal, really. I've been considering doing it to my Talon in the future. I've had the pleasure of driving Ray's twincharged 1G a couple of times and I'm head-over-heels in love with the incomparable power delivery of that engine. 20psi from 2000-6000rpm and 450+awhp on tap. You just can't touch that torque curve.

The reason you don't see more supercharged DSMs is because the community is overrun with slack-ass high school kids who aren't interested in figuring anything out for themselves. They no longer have to. Ten years ago, the *real* DSMers put in the time and effort to establish these cars true performers on the street and track. Today, all a kid with a decent allowance or part time job at The Buckle has to do is turn up the boost, swap in a larger turbo, turn up the boost, and they can walk around like King Shit.

The term "DSM" used to go hand-in-hand with sleeper innovation. It used to mean "Go fast with class." Sadly, we're seeing more and more of it meaning, "I can do the same thing 10,000 other people before me did and then act like some kind of f*cking expert."

Not talking about anyone in particular. Just saying.

Supercharge that bi***. If your buddy can make his adapter plate compatible with both the M90 and the M62 (I've not looked into differences in this regard), he might be able to make some basic kits to recoup some costs. Keep us posted, man.

I have a 94 altima I use as a daily driver and started to put a M62 into it but stopped at the adapter plate because I couldnt find a good price on 1/2" chunk of aluminum to get the plate cut out of, I was going to stud it myself. I would love to see the adapter plate you guys rig up, I thought the bi*** of it all was rigging up a bracket to put an idler pulley on for it. Keep this updated if you actually make some progress, Im curious about the plate.

If you run out of room, the corrado G60 S/C is a bit smaller, I haven't looked into the differences but I am sure that might be an option.

Dr1665, I resent that, I am a sophmore in college and I did all of the work myself, pretty much noone in northern maryland thought it was even possible, much less powerful. I think there is still class in it, if anything else we can make fun of the high school 4g63 kids.

I have the M90, its great for low-mid not high. This is just going on the N/A right, not the turbo'd one? Well, why don't you want to turbo'd cars? I have my DSM and I have the GTP, Turbo AWD VS. Super FWD...

I dont want another turbocharged car, I should say. This will take a while but I will keep this posted. I want to have this thing rebuilt before I go to put it on. The wife says I gotta get off my lazy ass and drop my engine into the GSX and at least know if it runs before I start another project.

dr1665: Thanks for putting the kabash on that flame early. Great post.

I think that's mainly who he was talking about. What person with a stock 420A can just "turn up the boost" and "swap in a larger turbo"? I'm at about the same level, scholastically, as you Alex. I never had the help or guidance of anyone, but I think I've accomplished a lot... so far. :sneaky:

The point is to learn from others who have innovated before us, then build on that and come up with something unique to contribute to the community. We're all here because we're interested in performance, and we have the "DIY" mentality. Innovation and development is the basis of our community, and so it's strongly encouraged here.

There's a lot to say on this subject, but I think we'll leave that for another thread. Let's try to keep this one on subject from here on out... :thumb:
