Universal Muffler install

Hey guys whats up. i just recently bought this muffler. I also bought a reducer and is 2.5 id to a 2.25 id. I guess i ordered the wrong reducer becasue it looks like i have to weld them together unless i put the small end in the big side(muffler side) and the big side over the actual muffler pipe. I bought clamps and i got a hanger to hold it up. My actual question is has anyone just put a universal muffler on the stock pipe even though it bends around the axel. Do i have to extend the pipe to get enough straight into the pipe to put the muffler on. I am going to get the full exhaust eventually i just want it on now while it is kinda nice out in michigan. Well any help would be good thanx guys i just posted this in newbie forum and i got really little help beside just weld it up. It is not on there yet and i might have shop time tonight to work on it.

well your not going to want to slip any pipe over anything...that is a huge exhaust leak waiting to happen.

Your going to want to cut the exhuast a little bit before it goes over the axle (starting from the front of the car) and your going to have to weld some kind of flange on there so you can take it off at some piont. This kind of work would best be done at an exhuast shop, and you'd be surpised at how cheap you can have them make 2.5" piping from the cat back mated with your new muffler.
