i have a 99 gs and i want to turbo it really bad. my problem is that the engine has 130,000 miles on it and im wondering if its worth it to put it on and have my engine blow. will it be alright?

You need to, at least, be able to do a compression test for yourself. This isn't one of those things you have someone install for you and forget all about it. This will require you to actually work on your own car from time to time.

Read more. You will see.

We know what you mean, but that is a wierd question. Just like the dr. said, the conversion is not a bolt on and forget it deal, there is a lot of maintaining. First ask if you are prepared to go down this route. Read up about it, I personally love my turbo and I am real happy with the progress of the car and the knowledge I have acquired in that time, but boy it was a journey for me and still is... =)

If you can't afford down time if it breaks, or don't have the money for a rebuild or at least a used replacement motor on hand after the cost of the turbo kit then don't do it or wait until you do have the extra cash b/c things are much more likely to break once you turbocharge your car.

Mileage doesn't mean a whole lot like said above do a compression and leak down test to check the condition of your engine. Hell I turbocharged my car at 104k miles and am now at 119k I've driven it harder after turbocharging then I ever had before and fortunately it's holding up for me (knock on wood) and hopefully will continue to go strong for the next 10 months or so.

Also make sure you have all your regular maintenance done first. 130k, whens the last time your timing components were changed? It would be a shame for you to turbo the car to have the belt break or jump a month later leaving you with at a minimum a handful of mutilated valves that need replacing.

Oh and last but not least read until your eyes bleed before you make a decision or go buying parts, you will be glad you did.

just buy one of those sweet! 91 geo metros with the 3 cylinder engine for a back up car and go!.ROFL

my eclipse is a gs with the HRC kit super 16g and i have like 132K haha nothings wrong with it but im running stock boost, i did the compression test and had good compession when i bought it so i would recommend the compression test and go from there

It depends on how the car has been driven in the past. If you've had it for a good part of the time since it came on the market and you've put most of the miles on it, and you havent driven it hard, you should be ok. Just dont get too pushy with the boost. I have a 99 GS and it has 97k miles on it. I would turbo it now, but to save a rebuild in the near future, I'm going to get a block from a junk yard, have it tested, hot-tanked, balanced, blueprinted, and put in JE pistons and crower (or eagle) rods. I'm going to run around 15 psi on that for awhile til i get a port fueler. But if you are going to turbo the current engine, make sure you change belts, (especially the timing belt!) if it's been a while since its been changed. that thing snaps turnin even 2500 rpm, ## gonna be in a world of hurt. My friend found that out the hard way. But hope i helped some. Feel free to message me about any other questions.
