machine shop or not

I recently took the head off my 99 gs (nt). I disassembled the head(vavles, springs, cams etc.) Well anyways before removing the head the car ran fine, just wanted to replace head gasket due to oil leak. all valves are fine and i was wondering should i take the head to a machine shop and get cleaned or polished and the vavle seats re cut or just put in the new valve seals and drive on? Any advice would help and also if i do take it to the machine shop what is the price tag for something like that?

Wouldn't be a bad idea or expensive to get it cleaned. You'll love yourself for getting head work done too. Its expensive, but it gives a nice boost in power.

I got a question... where did you get the valve spring compressor that you used to get the valve springs out with. I can't find one of those C Clamp style ones anywhere.

I took the head to the machine shop got 3 angle valve job, it looks excellent, and they recommended getting the head machined just because its aluminum and the straightness is usually off a little. I got it back and now the engine is installed and waiting for my amsoil in the mail to start the engine. the valve spring compessor i bought from sears, big c clamp looking one for 15$ it i took a cheap socket and ground out an opening on the side and put the socket in the valve compressor lips and tightened down, but had to remove the spring no biggie. it works good for a cheap fix. I'll find out how good this valve job really is worth they only charged me 175.
