Do you think that it would add any horsepower to my car, or is it junk, or should i get the APEXi N1 Style one on the link below?

I have to agree with that :thumbdown infact sounds a little rice :p but anyways no your not going to get any hp olny gonna make it sound differnt
i guess you could kinda compair it to blowing through a straw... weather you attach something bigger to the end its not going to make the air flow though it any faster, get a 2.5 cat back... ive got an obx universal 2.5 inlet muffler i like it... get a 2.5 inlet and then go to a muffler shop and have them bend you some pipes dont let them charge you more then 200 bucks that will give you a good boost :thumb:
aliczander talon :talon:

Im not to sure what you mean. I was gonna get a cat back but its way too much money for the amount of life left in my car. I thought the OEM exhaust piping was about 2.5 inches b/c thats what it says on universal muffler specs on the ebay model. But, i was thinking about buying a cheap muffler off ebay that has a 3 inch inlet and try to get a the muffler shop to replace my stock piping with some 3 inch cheap piping, instead of paying all the money to buy a full catback. Do you think that will be any cheaper?

why do u want to put a 3" exhost for are you a turbo??? and even if you plan on going turbo a 2.5 will be good too, with 2.5 you will have better low end torque
anyway what i was trying to say is your not going to make your exhost any more efficent by just putting a bigger muffler on the end of your stock pipes, you need to replace your stock pipes to gain any noticeable hp
hope this helps
i bought an obx universal muffler with a 2.5 inlet and im haveing the muffler shop bend me pipes from the cat back that is what i would sugest for you as well should only cost you some where between 100 and 150 bucks
:D :D

your great straw theory is contradicting LOL. your saying that buy adding a bigger piece on the very end, it doesnt make a difference. but adding a bigger piece from about half way on will. the way you explained it, it wouldnt matter how much is bigger. i think you got my straw theory mixed up. a muffler will give you a little more power if its bigger. regular piping flows the same amount of air as a muffler that is 25% larger in diameter. it is pretty restrictive. so putting a 2.5 inch muffler on the end will eliminate the restriction from it and flow the same as your 2 inch stock pipes. it probably wont be a noticeable difference but there should be some.

mabe my analogy wasnt soo good, but basicly what im trying to explain is that by just replaceing the muffler its not going to make his exhost preform any noticable amount better, basicly all its going to do is put a nicer looking muffler on it  if thast all hes going for then more power to him... but if he plans on doing anything else to it he might as well put a cat back on because that will give him a noticable gain and its something he can add on to with a high flow cat and header or turbo which ever way he plans to go... if he adds his nice new muffler to his stock 2" pipes when he further mods he will have to eventualy move up to a 2.5 to get them maximum preformace out of whats he doing.... i mean stop me if im not making sence here but really why just spend money haveing them weld a muffer on just to latter on rip it all out and put bigger in

Thanks a lot for all the advice. Now one more question b/c im not to familiar with all of this exhuast stuff. If i get 2.5 piping do i have to get a high flow cat also? or what do i have to do?

O yea, my car is a N/T automatic and its redlines at like 7.5 rpms, do all N/T's do that or is it b/c of my AEM cold air intake b/c i dont think it did that before i bought that. It only does it when i floor the gas pedal though....

you mean 6.5k rpms? all the automatics are electronically limited to 6500 rpms(6464rpms  ) and a cold air isnt going to change that.

Well ok, but bck to teh exhuast do I need to get a high flow cat if i replace my piping with 2.5 and what do i do abotu my down piping and my exhuast manifold?

allright buddie hears what ya do...
for now your cat should work just fine, but if you plan on going all out with your exhost
you can either get a high flow cat... or a test pipe depending on emissions restrictions in your state, test pipes only like 30 bucks and will fill the spot where your cat is high flow cat is like 110, and now you have your cat and back, now for your motor to the cat...
you can get a header and flex pipe,or just leave it alone unill you get a turbo if you plan to go that way... why you may ask because when you get a turbo you are putting the turbo where the exhost manifold is or where your header goes so it would just be a waste of money to buy a header :thumb: now you can find theres in a vast range of prices, you can get a header and flex pipe from e bay for 100 bucks or you could go with a name brand for anywhere up to 300 to 400 bucks but myseslf i got the e bay one hehe because i was planning on turbo but in the furter still some... now what i did is i got all my stuff header, flex pipe, high flow cat, and muffler and im haveing the muffler shop that i take it to make me all the pipes and put everything together and they are going to do it for 175 bucks not bad when you only have i think it was 100 in the header and flex pipe 60 in the cat con, and 50 in the muffler :thumb: but thats just me.... but just remember e bay "cat cons" are really test pipes or resonatiors either way your not going to pass inspection with it.
