Yes (when I had my 2gNT).

You (NTs) actually lose torque and gain very little at top-end. NTs need restriction (back pressure) to create torque, which is critical in NTs in their low to mid-range. That is why you do not see any 2gNT owners (the smart ones anyway) runnging anything bigger than 2.5". Anything larger, your low to mid-range will be the cost you pay.

IMO, go with an aftermarket High-Flow Cat (2.5").

If you're planning on going turbo, 3"w/straight pipe is what I would reccomend.

If you were to gut your cat, it would be completely hollow. Whereas the high-flow is not, still same stuff inside just with less restriction.
