what is that noise..
in the fast and the furious when they shift that noise you can hear that almost sounds like air pressure.. psst psst psst everytime they shift.. what is that?? i heard it yesterday in an rx7 beside me i thought they just did it for shitz and gigglez for the movie but i actually heard it

Pssst... it's the by-pass valve, blow off valve or whatever you want to call it. Just releases pressure not entering the intake manifold back into the turbo. Most people vent it to the atmosphere and not back to the turbo, leaving a pssst sound and the pressure releases...

yeah, it's the blow-off valve.. when you let off the gas, the throttle plate closes, and in a turbo stick shift, when you let off the gas to switch gears, there's a big buildup of pressure in the intake.. the blowoff prevents an excessive pressure buildup, and like TimG said, a lot of people just vent it to the air with really ricey sounding BOV's.

The RX7 was a turbo, and I doubt he was doing it for #@%#@%#@%#@%'z' and giggle'z'.

no i meant shitz and giggles for the fast and furious.. i didn't know you could get bov's that sound like that.. does that do ne thing special or is that just another 20hp gainer for a rice car like decals and streetglow

that also makes me think of somethin funny too.. in fast and furious it makes that noise when they all put it into first gear.. MUSTA BEEN ALOT OF PRESSURE BUILD UP FROM IDLING!! AHAHHAHA that goes right up there on the list when ja rule says he has enuff nos in there to blow himself up just by lookin under the hood.. arent' the nos bottles in the car?? ahahahahah that movie is terrible if you watch it closely
