ok after doing some few mods....(me with a hammer).... the intake fits, but the filt does not work with my m.a.s. so i tried seeing if my stock end piece to the can would work with my intake and it also does not fit. what can i do?

what do you mean "it does not work"? the car cannot start or it dies at idle? or what?

Well you see is pipe and filter they gave me did not work with my m.a.f.s. Everyone says that you need a k&n filter, and i also saw that people were using the stock bottom piece of the air can. Well i just replaced my air filter, and used duct tape to hold the bottom of the can to the pipe, it works now but sometimes my car struggles right after starting but quickly idles to 1500 rpm. Now when the weather warms up i plan to fix this problem, should autozone or any other parts store have something i could use to replace my duct tape?

is there a rubber boot at the other end of the pipe that connects to the maf ? if not thats why its not going to work. go to autozone and a get a intake boot that fits the pipe size, u might be able to get it to match the other color.. ill trie to post a pic of mine :thumb:

no i didnt come with a rubber boot to connect my pipe to my mafs, so i rigged it with the duct tape as you can see, soon as the warm weather hit si think i'll head up to autozone for one. thanks

ya you need some type of coupler/boot like 1.8laser90 said i know on my intake the und of the old intake was use to go around the new pipe and the part coming out of the maf but on the 1.8 the stock rubber hose/pipe might be smaller than the 2.0 :laser:

AND GET A K&N!! They're only 40 bucks

You dont need a K&N though, the stocker works just fine if you dont have $40, the biggest thing to remember is that with the MAFS is that your intake must be air tight and getting good airflow or your car will idle funny or die, if your car is still idling funny after you fix your intake its probibly because your intake isent getting good airflow, useally this is caused by the radiater fan kicking on and taking air away from you intake, to fix this just go get a heat sheild either by making one yourself or buying one(weapon r makes a good one) good luck! :thumb: :talon: :dsm:
