Hi, i have tried everything and i can't get my windsheild wipers to work i bought a new switch a new motor for it and looked over all the fuses and they still don't work what is the problem?

If the switch and motors work it may be the wiring. Do you have a volt meter? ohm meter? test light? (you only really need the first 2, they usually come together with an amp meter all in one little box with 2 plugs sticking out of it. also a wiring diagram might help from one of the pirated DSM service manuals, and I think its even in the haynes manual.

Ill post up pages after I finish my HW, if no one beats me to it, but all my documents are for 1g... so they may/not be of help...

If you replaced the switch on the colum and the wiper motor and they still don't work then you just have to make sure the wiper fuse and relay are good. If they are then seems like you have a wiring problem. You will have to check yopur wiring for continuity.

i looked at all the fuses and they are all good. And for the first post thank you ill wait for it , were is the relay ? in the car ? because i'm tired of not having windsheild wipers LOL.

So i looked at the fuse the 20amp fuse was blown out i put a new one in and the wipers worked for 20 seconds and then short off. I looked at the fuse again it was blown again ! so i put a 30amp in it but the problem keeps doing it over and over. :banghead: I think i have a wire short but i can't tell and if i do i can't find it now it's really starting to suck.

WHOA!

Do not put a bigger fuse in place of a smaller one, this can cause a fire! Wire is only rated to take so much amperage before it's overloaded. Please for your safety, put the 20A fuse back in.

First start by inspecting the wiring.
Second, the wiper motor is a motor and motors pull high amperage when starting. Make sure your grounds are good and are you absolutely sure the motor is good? Was it bought new or used?

Do this and report back.

The only ground i found was good it is on my intake manifold and Ok ill put a 20amp fuse back in ti and the engine worked before everything worked but out of no were one day it just stopped and its still the old engine and old switch and i can't find the wiring there is so much in the steering collom that it just goes every were. I mean when i first got the car they worked for about two months then just stopped working after a bad hail storm I was in.

Do you have a service manual for the car? Either a factory one or one from Auto Zone, Advance, etc will work. The manual will list the correct way to test the wiper motor and switch for proper functionality plus all the diagrams so you can trace the wires.

Since the fuse is blowing it could be a short in the wire or the wiper motor itself. You need the manual to be able to trouble shoot the problem.

I'd recommend a factory service manual, they can be had on eBay for cheap. However I'm sure you want this fixed ASAP so head on down to the parts store and buy one.

OK,
Since you replaced several items, let's assume they are all good components. Here are the circuit diagrams, I corrected the number of the ground location for the motor, since the Service Manual has the ground listed as #3. My guess is you have a 'bad connection' somewhere in the circuit. A poor connection (rusted pin in a connector, poor contacts, etc) can cause you to blow a fuse, since it will draw more current, and the connection will get warm/hot. The circuit is pretty simple, it goes thru the fuse, the 'wiper relay circuit, the switches you just replaced, then to the motor. If you put your 'wipers on High, the 'Windhield Intermittent Wiper Relay (in the column) will be bypassed for the most part. If it runs on high without blowing the fuse, then it probably is this relay/circuit.

There are three connectors in the circuit, B-12, B-63 and the motor itself, A-55. Get a wire with a 'in-line' 20A fuse holder, hook one end to +12V and you can test the motor by just puttting 12V on pins 1 OR 2, make sure you are also grounding pin #6 (on A-55), and see if it runs for more than a few minutes, without blowing the fuse. (If you don't have a inline fuse 'wire' to use, place a wire into the wiring harness side of connector A-55, you can see that is where you get 'fused power' from, only when the key is on)

The only other thing to check is that the ground (see picture of Auto Cruise Control Cable, the ARROW above that is the #3 Ground bolt) has a good connection to the metal. These connections get rusted most of the time, or break loose. If you have concerns with the ground, just spice a new wire onto the wire in pin#6 of connector A-55 and place it on a good ground point.

By going thru these steps, hopefully you will find the problem. Hope this helps, need 'add reputation points'...just click the link below! (LOL!)
Good luck.

I have a manual i'm going to read this thing i'm going to look over my ground and everything ill let you know what goes on after i clean my ground and put a new motor in it again LOL.

If the wipers nuts are too tight they will not move take off small rubber caps if u have them and loosen nuts slightly
