Wideband sensor location - direct exhaust flow?

Howdy, can someone provide some insight regarding how deep the sensor end needs to be in the exhaust pipe? The bung that was welded for me was a little tall so the end of the sensor stops right before the circumference of the exhaust.
The A/F readings from my wideband are different from what DSMLink is registering (which I know isn't always accurate) - so I want to be sure I'm getting the most accurate measurement possible. Will this give me a reliable reading?

For the most accurate results the wideband should be "in" the exhaust stream.

How reliable do you think this current setup is? Can someone provide some explanation why this setup wouldn't be completely accurate?

Why arn't you seaching for your answers on the DSMlink forums. An hour on there with the Search button will overload your brain with information...

With the o2 placed like in the pic, it may still read the A/F but it may not be totally accurate, and it may not read the A/F "fast" enough. The exhaust gases need to pass over the sensor tip, not by it. I would have the tip of the sensor protrude into the exhaust stream at least a 1/4". I would change it.
