Wrong Tranny Delivered?

I have a 1992 Eagle Talon 2.0 non-turbo and here is my problem.My tranny broke,I ordered one through a performance shop and they got it for me,the price was $550 CDN.I took it to my mechanic and he got partially into installing it when he realized the starter wouldn't line up right and some of the bolts wouldn't slide through the mounting holes.Also,there was a few small differences between the 2 trans. like different vents and such.Can anyone please help me??? I really need my car back! oh yea,and my mechanic got in touch with the guy who actually supplied the tranny from Montreal and he claims a different starter is all we need,so he's bringing a different tranny + starter and he said it should work no problem.What do you think? was it out of a 90 like I told them not to or could soeone tell me which tranny they might have sent me?

Can someone please help by answering my questions or atleast one of them.It's very important that I get this sorted out before I waste more time with this dink who doesn't know anything.

If I were you I would look for a part number on both transmissions, then go or call mitsubishi dealer up and ask them if they are interchangeable. Sorry but thats all I can really do to help you. Good luck you will get it sorted out
