I just got my Cat eliminating DP in the mail and was wondering. I searched and couldnt confirm an answer, hoping someone had an actual answer.

Anyone know if wrapping the second O2 sensor in foil and zip tie it under the car works for keeping the CEL off? Thanks!

Might want to check out this thread I made http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=203992

Just wondering though..if I don't bypass the heater element, but have that premade O2 sensor simulator in, what will it affect?

It'll still throw a code. It can tell if there's no heater element or equivalent load in our case. It might not throw one right away, but it'd be in there and if you live in one of those states where they check codes when doing emissions...

Whats that mean? You have to keep the 02 sensor in the exhaust for the simulator to work?

Hm actually you know what, I never thought of it like that..I always just took what miden said, as if you get one of the o2 simulators in that link, they wouldn't work for our car..I never mentioned in that thread that I still had the O2 sensor welded into the pipe..I just had no cat, that's why it was throwing a code.

Anyways yeah, I just soldered my own O2 simulator together..it's really easy to do. Only cost me about 5 bucks in parts, as opposed to $25 for that simulator. As long as you have the basic concept about wiring in series & parallel, you can do it.

Tin foil? Ha..that's a new one to me.

Im not running a cat and I dont have a cel on.

You need to cruise above some speed for a certian amount of time to throw the code. I think it's like 60 mph for 30 minutes.

Look at the installation diagram here:

http://www.o2sensorsimulator.com/site/installation.html

This particular box cuts the signal wires from the O2 sensor but leaves the heating element in place. The replacement described in the Vfaq has two portions: the signal load (cap and resistor) and the heating element load (12 ohm power resistor). The box described on that website leaves the "faulty" O2 sensor in place to use as a heater element.

You have some options here. I know a lot of guys simply wrap up the 2nd O2 sensor and zip tie it under the car. Some guys use the method described in the vfaq. The only potential problem with the vfaq method is heat. Some guys see the power resistor get awfully hot.

The Question was if the tin foil thing worked.

I know about alternatives. Just curious about the tin foil "method"

BTW Dp-Muffler piping is getting fabbed up and installed tomorrow!

Well...you've got tin foil in your house I'm assuming, right? Let us know how it works! :D
