drmotorsports said:well I was gonna be ordering a water injection kit and a 14b/o2 dump. but since my alternator decided to die I have to see how much that's gonna cost first.
nuggets said:i got a spare alternator for ya. works too! i blew a fuse and replaced the ALT. only to find a blwon fuse and not a bad alternator. kept the new one. still got the other. lemme know.
anyways.. looks like i'm rebuilding the shortblock boys. anyone know where i can get a new 7-bolt crankshaft? i heard remachining them is bad because it takes off the nitride and weakens the crank? comments/opinions are welcomed.
nuggets said:f' that. SUPPOSEDLY the 7-bolt cranks arent nitrided and they are already weak which is why they crank-walk so easily and detonate. The 6-bolt cranks are the only ones nitrided which is why they are able to handle such abuse. The 7-bolt crank is a superior design.. it just lacks the treated metal. Nitriding a crank cost around $275 for this one guy so I might look into that and maybe I will own a bullet-proof 7 bolt?
Has anyone else heard of this? heres the link to the thread
