I'm trying to figure out what EGT sensor type I need. I have a 2g eclipse gsx with a 6bolt swap. I have the white face greddy gauges on my A pillar. I need an exhaust gas temperature sensor. I found some on AEM so I called to order one and was asked whether I need a ktype or rtd. But I have no idea which one does anyone know? I even called greddy and they didn't know. Any help would be appreciated

Can you show us the connector or wiring to the sensor on the back side of the gauge?

"There can be several clues as to whether you have a thermocouple or an RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector). For example, if the temperature sensor has three leads, the sensor is an RTD. Thermocouples only have two leads. On the RTD with three leads, almost always two of the leads will have one color and the third lead will have another color.

For a two wire RTD, usually both leads will be of the same color. For a thermocouple, the two leads will always be of different colors."

I have the same gauge without memory. I got a replacement sensor from this company but the link to the sensor is no longer available. Try emailing him. Email at bottom of email.

Hey awd Tony. So did you get an rtd or thermocouple sensor?
Honestly can’t remember. Google says this:

What is the difference of rtd and thermocouple?

RTD is more suited to measure lower ranges of temperature. The measuring range of an RTD lies between -200°C to 500 °C. A thermocouple can measure a larger range of temperatures. The measuring range lies between −180 °C to 2,320 °C.

So I would guess thermocouple. Also says “thermocouple” in the link in my email.

Also what Kevin said points to thermocouple since it has only two wires.

Does this look right? So I would drill into the exhaust manifold and put the silver end in there?

No. It’s this one. I recommend getting one with a 90* bend

AWD Tony thanks for the quick responses. That one looks straight, I don't see a 90 bend in it. Should i look for that one with a 90 bend or is that one in the picture the one i should get? let me know if you say that's the one I'll get it ordered and hopefully get my gauges going 👍

I don’t want you to get the wrong sensor. They have straight and 90*. I’ve used both and the 90* just looks cleaner imo.

Contact these people and they WILL get you the correct sensor. If you don’t have the old sensor, you will also need the connector for you application.

I got the link to work. This is what you need

Sensor

The sensor doesn’t come with a connector. If you don’t have the old sensor, you’ll need these.

Connector - male

Connector - female
