not a big fan of the 3rd gen's really. Love the Audi's though.......
 
i've heard that audi's break after their warranty expires (70k?) so check into that. But i would take the audi anyways.
 
Get a 2.8L V6 A4. The 3G's are ugly, and they are mitsubishi's. And the turbo A4's aren'y very quick without some work, plus the turbo will be on its way out soon. You will love the torque of the 2.8.
 
I think its funny that of right now there is 100%(9 people) voting for the Audi. ROFL
 
You can get a late 90s audi a4 1.8t quattro in good condition with good mileage for under 15k and they can be fun :)

ps: make it 10 people at 100%
 
The more I read on these forums, and push my own shitball uphill with a three-tined fork, the more I'm convinced that Mitsubishi is some Japanese form of FIAT. Except that the dealers care less than FIAT dealers ever did.
Still, I'd take my chances dealing with the things that can go wrong with a 3G long before I'd enter into the gaping maw of Audi's gizmos.
Although I'd rather have an Audi. I just wouldn't want to try and fix one. :rolleyes:

I personally go with the 1.8t, they are proven good engines. The 2.8 has been known for a lot of problems.
 
I don't know much about audi`s...

But, i`ll bet gas is cheaper in the audi, considering no need for premium fuel(v6).
4 door might be cheaper on ins.

But, the cost of the audi Vs. the cost of the 3g might not make any of that worth it for you.

I'd go with the audi, my buddys 3g went has already had to have the engine replaced(at about 25k), it was under warrenty, and they wouldn't replace it. (I believe the oil pump on it failed)
 
You're screwed either way...if you want to be screwed less then take the 3G...Audi's are horrible. Nice looking but horrible and pretty slow.
 
i would rather have a 3g...imo i dont think they are THAT bad...what is it that people dont like about them so much. not saying i would buy one to mod or anything, but for the average joe??? seriously whats wrong with them? other option could be a 97 and up prelude, they look nice and have more torque than any other honda LOL...thatd be my first behind the S2000, an integra GSR...some came factory like that, 2001 and up celica...

I personally think it's a bandwagon thing right now for DSM'ers to hate Mitsubishi. If they truly hated them they wouldn't own the car. I feel like I'm the only person in the world right now that actually LIKES Mitsubishi.
 
i picked the 3g because doing timing belts on a4 suck ballz! have to take off the front of the car..that blows yo

The reason we hate eclipses is because mitsu dropped the 4g63t and awd and trhew a slug of a v6 in it that has trouble hauling around that fat ass. I was at a Mitsu dealership with my girlfriend when she was looking fo ra new car and the guy tried to push a 3g, i said i wouldn't drive it to save my life, new eclipses are sh!t. He said, well what about the NEW eclipses (2006) I looked at him and said what about 4g63T? He just looked at me dumbfounded... My girlf said at that point, this guy doesn't even know what he's talking about, let's go... it was HILARIOUS!

Sorry to threadjack for a moment... Audi... my uncle has a quattro... love driving it.

I wasn't talking about 3G's specifically just Mitsubishi in general. I would probably go for the Audi as well. The A4 is in a different class then the 3G.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. ALL cars break, it is only a mater of time parts wear out. :toobad:

oh, i just hate anything after 99 carrying the name eclipse, or anything labeled a Lancer that's not AWD (Stupid OZ "Rally" edition... Stupid Lancer wagons...)

Exactly what I'm buying this week. Great car! Shifts better than anything I've driven and that includes brand new bmw's. And it's reliable.

Out of the 2 choices I'd get the Audi, because it's got more pimpness!! :cool:
 
i voterd the a4, altghouh I do believe the mitsubishi shitbox will have less problems
 
I vote none of the above. An ideal daily should be something that's both fun to drive, and not going to broken all the time. Neither car fits even one of those description.

honda prelude vtec, theres a 1997 model here for sale for 6 grand, 5 speed and all. Its nice, cheap, roomy, remotely quick, and very reliable.

found a daily another DSM! ROFL a 96 Talon awd Int/exterior are mint only 55k original miles $6600. white with grey leather 16g, greddy uicp/bov, 3" RSR, ported mani/02, intake, 17" Konig Holes in gunmetal, will post pics later. only downer is its an auto but its for work and back so thats ok. needs safc/inj but I may just leave it be and not push the auto trans.

Ive had great luck with reliability on a 90Tsi new (165k 6yrs zero problems) and my current 90awd bought in 98 (now 205k miles 18 psi for 6 yrs, 18g for a year now, zero problems except for a starter). Maintenance, incorrect repair work, and abuse account for dsm unreliability imo. 4g63/mighty max bottom ends are as stout as you get for japanese 4cyl's, the mitsu is just as reliable and take abuse better than any corolla or sentra motor Ive seen with the miles I have on my 90.
