Whats With My Turbo?!?!?

please help me out! my turbo feels as if its bleeding off boost. During exeleration my boost gauge reads a normal boost level 9-10(stock) with my aftermarket boost gauge. yet my car isnt pulling. it just feels like my car doesnt even have a turbo the way it exelerates. Yet i can hear the wistle from my turbo i know is spinning... When i have the trottle wide open and its boosting at like 9lbs and i totally let of the gas, the car sort of bucks or kicks not quite like fuel cut but almost like a backfire. Could it be my BOV sticking open? PLEASE help i have to avoid ricers on the road in hopes of not getting ibaressed its like driving a GS, not a GSX... HELP ME:cry:
 
have you tried doing an intake leak test? this happened to me before and it turned out that i had some big leaks at the throttle body and the BOV flange. good luck
 
also i noticed since this has started happening when i downshift it into 4th on the freeway or well i guess anygear and it really gets up there into the rpms i noticed a bit of smoke from the exhaust. I dunno if this helps diagnose the problem thanks guys
 
Is the smoke a greyish black??? If so it sounds like ur having the same trouble as me!! Leaning out!!:) Get a pyrometer or air fuel to check ur fuel and air readings!!
 
First of all, why the hell are you running 9 psi?:D

If you're leaning out at 9 psi, as suggested by Happy, then you have other, bigger problems, I doubt that's it.

Also, if the smoke is grayish black, then you're rich, not lean. Lean doesn't usually smoke, because there isn't enough stuff burning. When you're rich (too much fuel) then you'll see black smoke.

I agree with whoever suggested a boost leak. In fact, I would be inclined to say I was SURE that was your problem. Build a pressure tester using PVC pipe and a tire valve, and clamp it to the turbo. Thenm use a compressor or a bike pump to get the manifold pressure up to 30 psi. The only thing that should leak is your BOV, if anything else leaks, then fix it.

Fixing boost leaks totally rules. Your car will SCREW when you are done, it's a beautiful thing.

I am haven the same problem! but i dont now what it can be! its like if i have a GS but i have a GST i still haer the BOV but i dont hear the turbo spin any more sometimes in the morning when taking of i can hear it for a lil bit! and then i dont hear the turbo no more!
