what's a v-belt?

Just as the title says? What is it? Dealer said mine broke

I have never heard of a v belt. Ask him if he means the power steering or the alternater belt?

Only belts I can think of off the top of my head is the accessory belt (which drives the power steering pump & AC) and the alternator belt which I hope needs no explanation. I'm not sure off the top of my head if there is a specific belt for the oil pump or water pump (I want to say yes but don't want to give wrong info since I don't have my "bible" with me)

I'm with Kirby on never having heard of a v-belt before. What was your car at the dealership for anyway?
