What size wastegate

Well the internal wastegate for my 20g doesnt work due to the position of my turbo. I have no idea how Dougie mounted it but its a huge PITA.

So, now I need to remove the manifold and get a external gate flange welded on, and a wastegate itself.

So what size wastegate would be siffice for 8psi on a 20g, then up to 15 psi in the future? Also, do I even need a wastegate if I've got a MBC? I'm pretty sure I do, I just want to clarify... TIA.

Yes, you need a wg. The mbc stays closed untill you reach the desired boost level. Once it reaches that level, it allows the pressure through to the wg so it can open and bypass exhaust and keep boost at the desired level.

As far as the wg, a 38mm should handle your needs. A 40mm will work but is probably overkill for a 2.0l engine.(I basing this on his particular setup)

I'm confused what kind of 20g is it? is it a hahn? I would assume its internally gated correct.

Just try to make the one you have work. It shouldn't be that hard. If you do go external 38mm will be fine.

He's got some weird MHI variant... It basically looks like a 20G, but the previous owner did some modification to the turbine housing.

Yea its all types of retarded. Oh man, you guys gotta see the ghetto rigging I did for this thing to become mounted. It;s honestly, hands down the single most part I will worry about after start-up.

I REALLY need to know how the gate's flap opens. Because right now it's mounted for a forward charge. If it's suppose to be a reverse charge then I'll she SOL until I rig something else up. I'm going to call some places tomorrow and see if they would know because I'm worried about it.
