What I/C pipes with SMIM?

Just wondering what you guys that have SMIM's are doing for your piping solution since most of the SMIM's are lower than stock. I use to have an Extreme SMIM that had the pipes in the stock location but I sold it. I don't see piping kits sold specifically for SMIM's. Are you guys just lowering the pipes, hacking them, or what? I have a Dejon FMIC with the short route pipes. Don't wanna go hacking on my pipes if I can help it when I get another SMIM. Figured I'd check with you guys for ideas unless it's just easy enough to lower the pipe. I dunno. Thanks. This is on a 1g by the way but sure it applies for 2g's as well.

You don't have to worry, in most cases, they 'll line-up just fine. I had Magnus and now JMF SMIM's and change nothing. The worse case scenario: may be you will end up buing a longer silicone coupler, other than that no worries at all.

K, a few people had told me I'd need new i/c pipes if I went with one of those types of smim's. So the thought started going thru my head, "uh, okay. Where am I suppose to get these pipes from if that's the case?" Thanks for the reply.

Well, worse comes to worse, I mean you get a local person to do it or do it yourself. Can't do that? Then call up the people you bought the intercooler from. Talk to them and I'm sure they'd help you. Especially if it's a reputable DSM vendor. I doubt you'd be the first person to need help on something like that.

Well, since there's no one that I know of in my area with a mandrel bender, I'd have to say no. I spoke to Dejontool about it but being that his manifold wasn't the same as the others (according to him), he couldn't guarantee anything. Also, I don't wanna halfass anything, I'd rather just have something that just goes right in....unlike when I had a T-67 turbo with an OBX manifold and punishment racing O2 housing, and trying to get the exhaust to bolt up. Yeah right, not without some modifications.

I'm 1g but I had to remove ABS, and lower my battery. I had a short route ETS kit, but I bought some more mandrel bends and hacked it up and made a custom run. 2 pipes, 1 from turbo to ic, then from ic to throttle body.

Battery clearance is probably more of an issue than the piping. I didn't have to change any of my pipes (Dejon stock route) when I got my JMF. There was a sliglty different angle, but the hump hose connectors I have made up for it. I did have to move the battery though.

We can do a full kit with UICP set up for a SMIM with tube style throttle body connection. The stock throttle body setups are a bit tougher to get exactly correct for all the different manifolds and variations on TB flange location but we can get it very close, enough that at worst light modifications will get everything bolted up. Here are a couple pictures of our kit with the JMF manifold, GM MAF and stock TB:

Looks nice. How much would that pipe kit cost? I may as well get the lower pipe as well cause mine was kinda hacked and the coupler keeps blowing off when I bump it up to 25 psi. And yeah, I have the stock tb with a 3 inch maf.
