What flew threw my hood?

I was driving down a back road, reaching speeds of up to 140. I have a 92 GSX. Out of no where there was a loud banging noise, an I saw a pretty large object fly threw my hood. There was a huge cloud of smoke and I could not see well. I slowly hit the brakes, and slowed down. I poped my hood to find a huge hole in my heads. I think it might of been my turbo, what do you guys think? Im not all that worried, the car still runs, and I bondoed the hood up (looks pretty nice ). The only thing that happens now is when I am driving there is a lot of smoke that pours from the exhaust and loud poping and thumping noises coming from the engine... what do you guys think about those noises? What do you think I should do? Thanks!

hole in a head and car drives fine? Yea, I think your turbo was spinning too fast, stripped 4 bolts and flew off. Turn your boost to 5psi and you will be ok

Is it really possible for my turbo to spin to fast? I was only running 18 psi. Could the force of it spinning to fast make it rip off and go threw my hood? Thanks for helping guys!

Ive been running 18 PSI for awhile now... never had any problems. Also... My car still feels a bit faster. Its pretty annoying with those noises tho... people look at me like Im an idiot on the road! Also, after this my turbo gauge is stuck at 18 PSI, I have not really had to reset the gauge and see whats wrong with it, any ideas on where to start on that one? Thanks again guys! It feels faster because there's a hole in the head and it's letting unmetered air into cylinder making you run little leaner on that cylinder. That's just more HP! I wouldn't worry about people thinking you're an idiot

Come to think of it... since you have a hole in the head you probably have no compression on it and you're runing on 3 cylinders. That's the annoying noise you hear. I would just turn up the boost to compensate for 1 dead cylinder and the noise should go away.

Alright, I turned up the boost to 28 PSI, Im gonna go drive around for a few minutes and see how it runs. Post the results in about 10 min!

####, I think that was WAY to much PSI. That was very bad advice man. The first time I floored it, I got up to about 110 and there was a louder banging noise then last time. No hole in my hood but that was a lot of smoke. There is A LOT of oil all over the engine bay. The car has trouble starting now and when it does it lopes really bad, the rpms jump from a little under 700 to way over 4300. Do you guys think I can drive my car like this? Im really scared for my car guys, this is my only and first car and I love this thing, I cant lose my car. Please someone help me

Dont listen to this moron. He is just leading you to more damage, maybe there is a way you can save this thread and take him to court so he can pay for all the extra damage he has caused
What kind of dsmer does this?

Anyway, Im not sure what is wrong wtih your car. Can you get a pic of the hole?

Ive printed off this thread and am going to contact my lawyer to see if it can hold water in court. I believe it can, you gave me false advice and made me damage my car. I suggest that if you really want help with this, you stop this childish behavior. THis goes for EVERYONE in this thread.

You have given us no information to go on. You have told us you were going 140 mph (which is stupid), and heard a boom (could be anything) and something went through your hood. Now, unless that part wasn't vital to running the car (which you said the car runs but with noises now) then something doesn't make sense.

Post a pic of the 'heads' and other damage and try to explain yourself better.
