Setting things up for this OG DEJIN SMIC pipe, and wondering why the BOV output is aimed toward the -back- of the car. Anyone have an idea on how the recirc pipe routing was intended in this situation?

(I'm thinking that a tapered air filter will help with fitment. I'm also realizing that the car's PO lobotomized the cruise control box, and mounted it way over here. Those will wait for another day. Thirdly, I'm wishing that somebody had NOT hacked that nice DEJON pipe.)

Unbolt the BOV from pipe, flip it 180, and remount it. Then it will be routed towards your intake pipe.

Thanks, @19Eclipse90 . I did think of that, but it's not a lot better. It -looks- like the BOV actually needs to rotate about 95-ish degrees clockwise in order for things to line up with OEM snorkel via the OEM recirculation hose. I may do some Cardboard Aided Design next, then CNC an adapter plate to make that easy/straight shot happen. (Unless someone does pop in describing some non-obvious way it was originally intended to be.)

That’s the old dejon smic pipes for a GM MAF in blow through, someone welded a straight piece of pipe where there was normally empty space for the gm maf setup before. It was designed to use with their air filter kit/their pipe which pulled the maf back a little bit.

With the BOV, just use some universal pool hose or universal hot rod radiator hose that flexes. You can cut it to fit and it functions identically to the stock hose/routing as long as it’s not kinked. Way easier and cheaper than custom brackets and stuff. :)

Trying to fix this hack job 🤬😡🤬😡

Wasn't my DSM I robbed the parts off of, but it's going on my DSM so it kinda counts?

Scored this today for the whopping total of $105.

Complete A/C system for a 1G. All lines, bolts, bracket(bracket bolts too), compressor, condenser, dryer...man. This was like striking gold. It all came apart like it wanted to have a new life somewhere else too. Stoked.

Oh that most certainly does count LOL. I pretty much have the junkyards around me picked clean of anything useful on a 2g. Unfortunately these cars are getting old and parts are getting more rare and expensive by the day.

It hurts me inside when I see one going to the junkyard or the crusher but sometimes it happens. I’ve actually taken 2 to the junkyard in my life but tried stripped them clean before they went.

It looks like this one the owner felt the same way. The entire interior was completely gutted(all the plastics and interior harness) down to bare metal, the only thing really left was ironically parts I all needed. The OEM Cooling and A/C fans, the radiator mount brackets, now all the A/C stuff and various OEM fasteners.

The only thing legitimately left of this poor thing is 1) the clutch pedal assembly(which was welded!) and 2) The 6 bolt N/A 4G63 longblock. The trans, the shift linkage, engine harness, fuel rail, injectors, legit everything else has been stripped off. Lol. So, I have a feeling the guy pulled a lot of what he needed and sent the rest of the shell. It sadly still has all the 1GB Laser body panels/bumpers/lights though.

Installed the Flatout suspension coilovers, installed painted calipers with braided lines, transmission, txase, and driveshaft are in. Starter is bolted on. Leather interior is in. Getting close!

The front brake line bracket is awfully close to the lower locking collar but it works.

Got my trailing arms back from Natfab llc, which are amazing 😁. Got things mocked up after getting the new bearings/seals in. If you dont know how to put heim boots on (most dont use them, I live on a dirt road in BFE) go to your local feed store or tractor supply and get the castration band tool LOL 😂. Works like a charm!! Also finished up brake line/ fuel line holder (from Hef shop) for mock up as well. Got the rest parts ordered brakes rotors and axles so it can go back together and go to paint 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Mounted the rear brake line support. Coilovers didn't a place for the factory bracket. Shout out to @greddy_1700 for an elegant solution. It is indeed a tight fit but it works well.

Have you driven on those coilovers yet? How's the ride quality over say potholes and stuff over city roads?

Also, man that blue is gorgeous. I'm a sucker for blue.

I haven't been able to work on the car as much as I'd like so progress is slow. I rent a garage across town to work on it and I only get about 7 hours a week. Definitely will report back once is on the road. The forum has been invaluable for some of the things I've ran into with the suspension.

God I wish I could rent a garage near me. Wish my dad wasn't such a damn crackhead. It was always really nice having access to lifts and airtools whenever I needed them.

That's the way to do it. Nice job.

I started TRYING to do the front wheel bearings in the Talon. I bought the wheel bearing kit from Harbor Freight to assist. I have a few presses available to me, but figure if I can do it without taking the stuff elsewhere, well then it will be worth the cost.

Everything came apart nicely, but I fought, and fought, and fought the damn snap ring. I thought it would end up being stuck good from rust and sitting, but its moves nicely. Every time I can get any grip on it the snap ring pliers or the needle nose I tried, slipped and I didn't have enough hands to get something under it while it was lifted. One time I did manage to get a small screwdriver under it, but it slipped out.

Annoyed, I went ahead and pulled the knuckle off the LCA to try it on the ground, and still was fighting the same issue. Defeated, I called it a night.

Tomorrow I'll probably go ahead and pull the passenger knuckle, and get them both cleaned up nice. If I can't get someone to stop by and offer a third hand I'll run out to my friends shop over the weekend to get it apart out there. I'll probably take the tool kit with me, to at least try it, and if it fails, I'll have a press there to do its thing.

In the meantime I might go ahead and get some new LCA's coming. Thought of just doing the ball joints while its apart, but for the effort, and price its worth it just to throw some OEM like replacements in.
