Ar15.com doesn't like it when you point out historic facts about Islam, from their own material...so i'm on a 420hr suspension.

Sooo anyway, still got the Talon, but money' been tight so I haven't done anything with it, mostly it sits, but I think things may change soon. If they do I may start trying to figure out how to put speed density on it. But I don't know much about tuning. It took a few people and nearly a year to get the tune near perfect with the 2G MAS....

    So, what have I missed?

Well as you can see in Marty's signature, we opened up the old DSM Profiles section to other vehicles... it's now called Vehicle Profiles, in case you had any other builds you wanted to document.

I'm surprised to hear about you being banned for discussing religion on a gun site - do they normally not allow religious discussions or was it your take on the subject that got you in trouble with them, or was it your delivery?

With as polarizing as religion (and politics, and everything else these days) I've always tried to keep that stuff out of this forum. The majority of people out there simply don't have the ability to engage in a constructive debate, especially online, and the bitterness/hostility from those discussions almost always spills over into the other on-topic discussions, which detracts from the the site. It just ends up requiring too much moderation to keep things civil, which becomes a waste of resources. I figure it's better to push for discussions about things that can bring us together than things that will drive a wedge between us... even at the risk of the site being too vanilla, or in some people's minds, too censored.

There take on it seems to be keep it internal, in the sense no cross criticism from one religious group to another, which is ridiculous imo. Are we after truth or blind indoctrination you know?

What got me banned for 420hrs though was a reposting of a controversial YT apologetics video. David wood, Sam Shamoun (i think that's spelled right) and a few other brothers in Christ do a bit of a unconventional engagement method. See, typically in eastern countries especially, Muslims don't respect the meek, polite and kind Christian approach, so they've take to a bit of a louder mockery while spitting tons of historical facts and pointing out tons of intellectual inconsistencies as well as textual variants that raise MAJOR problems and contrast it with the truth of scripture found in the Bible.

What this does is really anger them initially, but here's the key, they engage rather than dismiss. They want to refute the historical provable claims they're making, and well since there factual provable claims they fail. Which causes many to start doubting, and investigate on there own.

There's been a lot of Muslims in the last few years who are leaving Islam after becoming aware of what's actually espoused in their own material. Many of whom convert to followers of Yeshua (Jesus).

Well, if they have a religious sub-forum they're inviting discussions that they will have a tough time moderating. That forum will be nothing but arguments, I mean, what do you expect with religion? Religious beliefs are usually absolute, with no room for compromises - and people in each religion feel theirs is supreme. So I'm not sure how anything constructive is supposed to come out of a dedicated sub-forum in a niche site for guns, cars, and most other things.

Well, if they don't allow criticism then I kind of agree. But those seeking truth I'd say can hold such discussions. I find it normally the ignorant and arrogant are the most unwilling to look or consider a different perspective. Which is an enigma onto itself, is man perfect? Nope, so why are you so sure you're understanding is infallible? So if you believe in a God and afterlife such things have eternal ramifications right? Might be worth discussing and critiquing don't you think?

That's more the way I approach it. It's good to see this site is still up and running and not dead. I remember several years ago now dsmtalk died. Well, technically there may still be 15 or so active members there but I think that counts as dead.

Hoping to eventually get a TIG welder in my shop so I'm able to do some more custom work on the Talon.

Again though, that requires constructive debate and discourse. And that doesn't happen online in topics like that, hell it rarely happens in most topics these days.

Glad to have you active here, and looking to see some progress on the Talon. ;)

In wouldn’t brag about being a racist.

I’d ask that you leave that talk, all religions, out of this forum. I’m sure we have members of all colors, beliefs, and backgrounds. Let DSM’s be what unites us, not the latter.

Oh come on, not all Muslims are terrorist, just all terrorist are Muslims. It's those darn Pentecostals Christians sending missionaries around the word to spread the love of God too.

Ugh, why in the would would you bring race into it? There's Muslims of all skin colors. Maybe thou dust protests to much? Race literally has next to nothing to do with a religion.

This is the Hangout right? I was just mentioning what had taken place.

They have bought into a lot of lies, if you believed what they do, and were brought up in a Muslim family, can you say you wouldn't?

The good thing is most believe what they do out of ignorance, they have been lied to massively, start showing them what's in their own source material and many of them are repulsed by it.

I knew as soon as you posted the details about what happened that there could be a response to it. Let's keep with the spirit of the posted guidelines that have been pretty much the same for about 18 years now and not get into it here. I don't want to see people being called ignorant because of the religion they practice. This isn't the place for that. No more replies about that subject going forward please.

Fine, but I'd encourage anyone who thinks I'm mistaken to look into the findings of the top Christian and Muslim scholars.

To be clear though, I'm not saying they're ignorant because of the religion they practice, I'm saying they're ignorant of what they're own religious text states.

I won't comment about it any further unless specific asked.

I agree that everyone who wants to learn more should do research, and that people really should learn more about the history of the religion they practice. I just want to make it clear that debating religion is not something we allow here in the forums. Feel free to continue that discussion privately with anyone wanting to chat about it.

That's why I've always loved cars. It brings people of all backgrounds and beliefs together while the rest of the world becomes more divided.

Religion has never had universal agreement for the thousands of years it's been around, they aren't going to start now. Each holy book has had hundreds of revisions, translations, testaments and interpretations, so taking any holy book at face value is absolutely foolish. The Christian bible itself has over 900 different versions. Are any of them totally correct? Not a chance, and all of the others are equally fallible. Let's all just worship at the church of 4G63 and be happy.

I waited 6 months and re-registered. LOL Though I rarely visit or log in. Honestly, I never did like the layout and difficulty of use.
Most of my visited firearms forums are locally-based or caliber specific.
