Weird wear on one of the cylinder walls(PIC)

Well the motor is a built 2.0 with eagle rods and wossner pistons .020" over ceramic coated 8.0:1. The motor has about 8000 miles on it and doenst burn any thing or smoke at all and has 160 compression across the board. But when I pulled the head in one of the cylinders it has this wear:

Does anybody know what might of caused this?

Can you get a close up of this area? Also that piston has heat damage between the valve reliefs. You will find out more of the story after the piston is out.

I think you've dodged a bullet. Whatever dis that, left your engine, and obviously it hasn't caused problem. smooth it out, check to make sure nothing is protruding into the cylinder wall, and put it back together. Do a leak down test prior to running again, and record the numbers. compare that again the next time you run some diag tests.
 
pop the piston out... looks like you may have hammered a ringland out......
