I am having a strange noise coming from my passenger side wheel... it sounds kinda like the "dust shield" thing is rubbing against the rotor, but when i get out and look at it, it doesnt look like it is close enough to rub..... this all started when i removed the wheel to replace the passenger side axle seal (on the transmission).... i am about to pull my hair out on this one.. any ideas guys??? Can I completely remove that dust shield to make sure that it is not the problem??

I have the same problem you do. I've already replaced the axle, wheel hub assembly, brakes, and rotors. The shield is nowhere near this thing. Did you find a fix?

-How are the condition of your brake pad, it could be the brake pad spacer telling you that the brake pads are low.

you did not say what kind of sound it was,if it is a screaching sound its the brakes, if it is a grinding or rubing sound,it could be the wheel bearing, the way to check a wheel bearing,is to jack the car up,do not remove lug nuts, and grab the wheel and try,to wiggle it,if it does it is wheel bearings

I can't speak for Atari, here, but I personally have already replaced my ball joints a few months ago, my inner tie rod ends, have a new hub assembly (new bearings too), new axle, new tranny seal, and the pads are mitsu OEM greens, and are pretty much brand new. All these parts were on thier way out, and had to be replaced, everything else seems to be fine, and I still haven't found the source of the noise. I'm starting to lean towards the carrier bearing assembly on the driver's side axle. The car is with my mechanic right now, and they are trying to figure out what has been driving me nuts for the last four months.

Thanks for the replies.

Matt.
