weird 6-bolt I found.

I purchased a 6-bolt motor for the swap that will never probably complete.

its hard to come buy a 4g63 turbo down here. So I went to the junk yard and found this Silver 91 Galant Turbo. All the tags were removed so I dont know about the origin(spec) since they were never sold here. The wiring plus ecu was all removed, no CAS :(. anyways I have had the motor in my garage for a long time, but I just recently had time to disassemble it.

first thing I noticed when removing oil pan that their were no balance shafts. removed oil pump and it had a plug in place of the balance shaft gear that I have never seen one like before. It wasnt metal, it looked like a factory piece. It looks different than the factory piece on vfaq.

One balance shaft had the stub just like Vfaq and the other wasnt their, but the bearing was blocked no whole at all.

Finally it didnt have any oil squirter, just bolts in the place of the oil squirters to block it.

Is this normal? was it done or factory?

Iam definitly leaving the balance shaft setup the way it is, but what should I do about the oil squirters?

should I buy a set and put it on, or just leave it the way it is? any danger in not having squirters? shouldnt removed squirters result in higher oil pressure?
 
just guessing here, but I wanna say that the 6 bolts didn't come with oil squirters so you should be okay. hopefully someone else can chime in to say yah or nay.
 
The 6-bolt N/T 4663's came without oil squirters and a knock sensor.but did come with balance shafts.

But if it is a turbo motor then it will have oil squirt. and knock sensor in the block,and balance shafts.

1. the knock sensor u can probably drill a hole in the block (not all the way through) and tap it for a knock sensor.

2. look at all those h22 and b18 hondas that are turbo not one of those ever came with oil squirters and there running fine.
 
Its a turbo motor. it says "T" infront of the block which stands for turbo, Plus I took it out of a turbo car, it had the turbo and everything on it "14b".


I just want to know if the regular turbo 6-bolt had oil squirters or not?

B18 and H22 have oil squirters.
 
now that u say it like that then yeah that 6bolt should have oil squirters in the block.

my bad on the hondas i thought they didnt have o/s in them. at least a d16 i took apart didnt have them.
 
The 6 bolt you found, have you checked the engine code written on the block?

Could be a 4g61 which is either a 1.8L or 1.6L version of the 4g63 used in Japan (can't remember correctly). Maybe that is why it didn't have Balance Shafts. But any info you find on this motor let us know. It'll be some good insight.

Oh shit man!!, I dont know if this is good news or what?

I just had a look and it said 4g61 and right under it "FX8672".

are you sure its a 1.8 or 1.6.

I know the car was 5spd and AWD. it said 2000 on the valve cover exactly like the Eclipse but written it red, and the Intake Manifold was identical to the 1g and was written in Red instead of Black.
 
Okay, the pistons are 20overbore and it Says 4G63T on top. Probably 1g pistons, and the rods are 4g63's also.

I cant find anything on the crank except the letters "AG" which I dont know stand for what.

Another $250 spent on nothing.

NOte to self - Check F(*&^NG engine code next time.
 
i think the only difference was some minor piston bore and stroke between teh 1.6/1.8 4g61 and 4g63. i work on a lot of hondas and its pretty easy to make a civic si's motor thats 1.6 litre into a 1.9. probably will be able to find 1g crank and rods for cheap on dsmtrader.
 
you my friend have acquired a JDM VR-4 motor I'm pretty sure, but not positive. As far as the oil squirters though, I'm not sure. if it's got bumpers different from those in my sig...it's JDM and I want them
