My engine blew in my 92 Eclipse N/A early this year. It has been sitting in the garage waiting for a warm day to be worked on.

Well, this past week has been just shy of perfect weather. I have been working on pulling the blown engne a little here and there for a couple hours every night between my job and sleeping.

Tonight, I spent 5 or 6 hours in the garage tonight. The engine is out. I am so happy. I have never lost so much blood pulling an engine in my life. The head is covered in blood droplets (Valve Cover is off).

Now I gotta do the same thing all over again tomarrow as I pull the spare rebuilt engine from the parts car. While the engine is out of the 92 Eclipse, I want to clean it up a bit, and paint everything. Anything else I could do while the engine is out you guys think would be a smart thing to do?

I noticed that 5 speed trans that I pulled with th motor has a crack in it. Not too big. I do have another 5 speed. Should I use that instead?

Any suggestions you have would be great. I will keep you guys updated!

Car- 92 Eclipse NA
Engine- 4G63 2.0L Non turbo
Mods- Short Ram Air Intake, NGK Plug Wires.
Trans- 5 Speed

Pending on where the crack is and what caused it, you may be able to repair the housing using some HTS-2000 aluminum repair rods. I posted a link to the manufacturer's website in the fabrication section of the forums.
If I were doing the rebuild, I'd check all my split looming for hardening and damage from oil. If there is any rust in the engine bay, sand it down and seal it or do some repair with fiberglass bondo if need be. I'd use Royal Purple fluids...
That's my $0.02 and good luck with the project!

Thanks man. I have a huge thing of Royal Purple cleaner. There is alot of greese and oil all over the engine bay. There is no rust though. I dont think the 92 Eclipse has any rust anywere on the car so that is good. I think I will use the other 5 speed. It shifted pretty good when it was in the Talon. Grinded on a gear or two but that's the same with the one I had in the 92 Eclipse. Although, I do remember the trans from the Talon didn't like reverse too well. I will see if I can patch the one from the 92 Eclipse.
