Here is what I have, it is a 98 turbo motor with the stock T25 turbo. Currently I am getting 8lbs of boost but would like to up that to around 10-12lbs. Is this ok to do with the T25? I am worried about adding too much heat to the inlet air and not acomplishing anything. Has anyone else done this and got good results. I know I should just replace the turbo but that is what I am building a 1st gen motor for. For the time being I am looking at just doing the "free" mods to make the car more fun to drive
This motor is in a 1st gen Talon and is my spare motor. I am using the stock SMIC but have the 450cc injectors, Walbro 255lph fuel pump and upgraded exhaust and a Haltech for an ECU.
Thanks for the help.

Steve

With a t-25 the max boost to run is 17psi and then it will drop down to about 12 and redline. Or 15 max with 10psi at redline is a little safer.

Later,

Do you suggest I turn the boost up to about 12-15lbs or will the improvment not be woth it and just keep it stock numbers and stay "reliable"? I am just looking for a little more untill I can get the 1st gen motor rebuilt and then have some real fun;) . Thanks again for the info.

Steve

Stock boost for that car is 12 psi anyway. Looks like you have a boost leak somewhere.

with my T25 and basic bolt ons I pushed the boost all the way up to 22lbs and I still made more power.. though it only last for about 0.5 seconds till the power dropped off cuz the T25 sucks butt.. you can see dynoes on my webpage if yer interested..

Thanks for the help and info on the dyno charts larryd. And thanks swordfish and MuttedTSiAWD for the info on the stock boost numbers. Where is the stock 12lbs measured at? Before or after the intercooler. I have my boost gauge tied into the intake manifold and that is where I measured 8lbs. Not sure if this makes a difference, but the motor was originally from a automatic car. Could the wastegates be different between the auto and manual?
