Looking for qualities, and opinions on how the Race FMIC holds up, looking to place on 99gsxer, please share thoughts.

I think victory's front mount has the best design out there.

Straight through flow and tapering endtanks towards the inlet and outlet.

Very nice in my opinion, I will be getting the kit for the 1g when they are avaliable.

Ok, well if he said so :)

Nicks intercooler after riding behind a salt truck for about 5 seconds. Im sorry but Ive never seen the fins on any intercooler get this damaged that fast.

yes yes it does. Whats funny is I was told that intercooler was supposedly heavy duty etc etc and that my old Greddy fmic was cheaply made. I drive like an ass real close to people all the timing so Im sure I had tons of stuff hitting my intercooler and it never looked like poor nicks.

Show me a tough intercooler, and I'll show you one with poor heat transfer properties.

ALL intercooler need to have thin, easily bent fins if they are going to work well.

I like my fmic, I was saddened that the fins bent so easily. Although I was goind 80 mph past a few salt trucks. When I get my 56 trim I will flip the FMIC so that the bent fins are not showing. And flip it again for the winter. I recommend it, great kit.

Holy crap, dude. I have to ask how that happened. It almost looks like the car slipped off a jack stand and the IC took the brunt of it...

From anyone who knows: are the Victory cores made by them, or are they made for them by someone else? Their end tanks look pretty good, but I'm not buying an IC from anyone using that particular core. :p

(I'm actually liking the idea of a lower-efficiency IC combined with water injection or CO2 spray instead of trying to wedge the most efficient - ie. larger, thin-walled - FMIC I can on the car when the time comes...there's no reason I shouldn't be able to far surpass the efficiency of a monster FMIC that way, and get a few more "knobs" to tune at the same time.)

I always thought that a bar and plate would hold up better than that. Although I doubt any fmic is going to like tons of salt being thrown at it at any mph, and what fmic do you know of that can handle being slammed by the jack (my guess from the picture above). Pretty much I think these two cases are just freak accidents. If anyone else has any bad or good experiences with the victory kits please share!

Right now the kits I'm looking at are: Victory SS kit, IRC race, and a SBR kit.

Actually I was in a wreck. My car got hit in front and I didn't have the bumper in. It just twisted the thing back. The car that hit me ran up on my hood instead of crushing the intercooler. I lucked out because the core is still good. There aren't any leaks and none the air ways are blocked. It just smushed the fins at the bottom.

HAHAHA. Don't hold your breath. I ordered one last September and it was SUPPOSED to be done in 2 weeks. Waited until January before cancelling my order and getting the Buschur kit. Best move I ever made, those things still aren't done and it's april.

Stay clear of Victory performance, I have had terrible luck with them, stick with one of the top vendors.
