Vibration in rear

When driving my car there is a vibration in the back drivers side, feels like it's coming from the wheel area. This only happens when I reach about 3 grand and then it goes away about as fast as it came. It also makes a sound when happening. Didn't know what exactly this was, didn't know if it was a wheel bearing? Thanks

The best way to find out if it is a wheel bearing is jack up the car and grab the each wheel (one by one obviously) at the top and bottom of the rim and see if there is any play (push the top in and pull the bottom out) if there is play on any one of the wheels then my friend its time to get a wheel bearing

Alright thanks for the tip I'll go try that tomarrow, just wondering though does this sound like a wheel bearing issue?

I would say no. Usually a wheel bearing issue is dependent on speed. i.e. the faster you go, the more noise it makes. If it's going away, I would say probably not.

Check the condition of the rubber boot on the carrier bearings on your driveshaft. These are known to rot away and be a pain in the ass.

You say it occurs at 3 grand? That doesn't say much. Is that 3 grand in every gear?


One thing you should check for is a seized caliper. Check the temperature of both rotors after a drive. They should be warm to the touch but not burning hot. If they are burning hot, the caliper is seized. This happened to be before and it produced a vibration in the rear.

Disregaurd the 3grand, I'll try to explain it better. The problem happens when I am turning a corner and accelerating at a good pace this is the only time that it will happen. Hopefully this helps. So the only time I notice it is in first because thats the time I would do that.
