87,900 mile 1999 GST. I thought I knew what was wrong but now I'm just confused. Symptoms: A lot of white smoke emitting from exhaust when engine is warm (at idle and driving), coolant maybe slowly depleting from overflow reservoir, chocolat milky looking oil, fuel in the oil.
I thought it was a blown head gasket but my temperature was normal, no coolant gushing out of the reservoir, still get full boost. Took it to Mitsubishi dealer. Compression test of 155, 154, 153, 153. They rule out a blown headgasket. After 4 hours of diagnosing, they finallly conclude that the T-25 is breaking up internally. They said that the oil line is leaking oil into my SMIC and back into the engine where it gets burned up (hence the white/blue smoke...it's really white to me). Ok that sounds about right. The turbo has never been replaced or even serviced by previous owner.
Coolant in my oil pan. They tried to blame the turbo for this. And when the dealer had trouble explaning it to me because I was questioning him, he started blaming my bad upper radiator hose! Whatever...oil and coolant are two separate systems. I have to have a leak somewhere.
Then he blamed my bad gas mileage due to my Apexi N1 and downpipe. Whatever again...I should be getting a lot better than my 18 mpg right now. He even said I was running more lean with my Apex and then he says I'm getting incomplete combustion in my chamber and that's why my gas mileage is so bad and a reason that I have fuel in my oil. I thought incomplete combustion would be rich. Regardless, the car drives fine. Then he tried to say my Injen was also a result of the bad gas mileage. Then he even said that the bad turbo was getting fuel into my oil. And I then had to seriously question him. I hear him whispering to a mechanic if a bad turbo could get fuel in oil, and of course the mechanic says no. Then the service manager said, oh well we don't know why you really have fuel in the oil.
Basically, he didn't know what he was talking about. I'm never taking my car to a Mitsubishi dealer again.
What is wrong with my car??? White smoke...maybe blown turbo yet I still have full boost on the T-25. White smoke may be coolant in the oil burning...yet yet my head gasket seems to be okay and my temperature is fine. Fuel in the oil...I have no idea here...
Setup: T-25, Injen intake and hardpipe, Apexi N1, N1 downpipe. Everything else is stock.
