Finally got around to rendering what could be our new cam gear for the 4G63. It doesn't look new at first but the changes are subtle and mostly raw material based. Since Kevlar timing belts chew through even the best hard anodizing there was only one way to go. The outer toothed section of this adjustable gear is US made 316 stainless steel, eliminating dangerous wear all together. Since the outer section is steel it is almost impossible to strip the threaded bolt holes unlike aluminum. Since our design puts the timing marks on the outer gear they are easier to see and just, making 1/2 and even 1/4 degree settings possible. The inner section of the assembly is still US made 6061-T6 and has been tweaked to be even lighter. Bolts will be 316/A4 socket head just like our old gears. A pair of these will weigh .25 lbs less than the stock gears.

Just trying to gauge whether or not the community is interested as it would need to be a group buy. We would need to make 25 sets to cover programming, new tooling and setup. A pair in this qty would run $450 including Priority Mail shipping (US only).

Now we forgot to add some really important stuff that is critical to the quality of Adjustable Cam Gears. We got out of cam gears because with all the poor quality gears at cut rate prices there was no room for quality anymore. All the cheap junk has killed cam gears because they all fail whether its that they just break, wobble, hop, bolts comes loose, teeth wear out or the timing marks are all wrong. We have heard most people today say they will only use the stock gears. JUST SAD!

This new UR design using steel for the outer gear solves the only issue that ever existed with our old all aluminum gears, no more belt wear with Kevlar belts!

From the beginning our gears were the best in performance and durability. The two parts of our gears go together with a tight locational fit, no wobble or hopping here. The reason our bolts never came loose is because of how our gears go together. It is the sloppy fit between the two sections of a cam gear that causes the hardware to come loose, it doesn't matter how big the bolts or how hard they are torqued. Our timing marks were and will always be perfect or almost near perfect. We are within a minute of perfect with 60 minutes being in 1 degree, no re-indexing at a machine shop ever needed here. We also give you 10 degrees, advance and retard, more timing adjustment/marks then you will ever need. Anymore than 10 degrees and the timing belt was installed wrong. Lastly we only use stainless hardware, bolt and washer so no corrosion here.

What color would the finished cam gear be? Polished stainless steel?
We need to keep as much cost out of the gears as possible to keep them at the offer level. Polishing add an extra step which would have to be outsourced and could lead to damaged parts along the way. Nobody treats your parts like you do unfortunately.

We are thinking of possibly tumbling them, which we can do in house, which will brighten the outer sections up but nothing like polishing. We can see how this outer section looks after machining and make a determination then. The inner aluminum section will be machine finish which is ready for plating that can be done on the buyers end. Plating is a tough process because it is so hard to match colors not to mention has become very costly due to EPA regulations.

We are following up with each thread to let everyone know that all the UR GB's are closed.

We appreciate the opportunity and hope to find another option to bring the products to you with another DSM Tuners vendor partner.
