IS, Unorthodox Ultra-SS 4-peice Pulley Kit a bad thing? heard from a friend that it is not worth the price you pay for what you get. . .meaning that it does a number on the crank shaft and the bearing on it. . .also it would be better to go with a Harmonic Damper? now i am not to sure on what hes talking about, but he shore to me that a move to just littler pullys was risky business. Is this a true statement?

People have mixed feelings about this. It's RECOMMENDED that you use some type of DAMPNED PULLEY on the crank shaft to absorb the vibrations. Stock does the job fine, but will not last as long as some of the high-dollar "Fluidyne" Type. stock $100 & Fluidyne is about $300+.

"Claimed" horse power gain from lightened underdrive pullies is next to nothing. You will probably not noticed it. If you want "bling bling," cool. I'd just have my stock ones powder coated.

Hope it helped.:dsm:

Some use them with marginal success, others (myself included) stay away from them like the plague. I don't mind all the accessory pullies and such but for the crank pulley stock or dampened all the way.

I used a cheat ebay one on my 2gnt for many miles with no problem. I am going to replace mine on my 92 talon awd soon. I am not sure what one I will go with but I dont thing it will hurt anything. with as many bearing that the crank has on it holding it to the block. I dont think it will hurt it having a lighter pulley on the end of it. I will just have to find out the hard way.

Undampened pulleys are a bad idea all around. It may get you a few additional "free-ed up" HP in the short run, but at the expense of engine longevity. A balance shaft elimination, lightened / AL flywheel or even lighter wheels would free up more power without the potential damaging effects :dsm:

I agree underdrive pulley = waste of $$$$. Spend the money on something that will actually give you resonable Hp gains!

I have had bad experience will them and never buy anything from OBX!

Should I switch back to a Stock pulley. I just pulled my motor apart and found a bomz crank pulley in place of the stock unit. Is it worth keeping it for free? Or to big of a risk?

An appropriately named product ;)

That pully is worth ~8HP at the expense of a potentially significant decrease in engine life. I would definitely not recommend using it nor would any DSM engine builder.

Note that unlike an N/T car, 8HP can be easily ganied back on a turbo car with 1psi boost, a open K&N stype filter, CAI or phenolic intake spacer, so why risk it? :dsm:

ATI of Fluidamper. OEM is always a good idea but the aftermarkets are supposed to do a better job at dampening at higher engine speeds and they are also supposed to be more reliable.
