2G Unknown plug

So I looked through the 2g electrical connections forum for about an hour and cannot find what this plug goes to. It was hanging around and filled with dirt. The car ran without it so I cut it and tucked it, but before I put everything back together I’d like to make sure it wasn’t anything special. It looks like a switch of some sort and has a red wire and a green with black stripe. Any help is appreciated

Thanks!

Some where in, Colorado
There's several plugs that look just like that. You'll need to be more specific as to where it was located, and where it was hanging.

Evaporative emission purge solenoid valve. For reference: Where do these plugs go to?!? and Name these sensors for me! Pics

On 1998 and 1999 models, this solenoid was moved from the firewall to the driver-side of the intake manifold and the connector changed, hence why Brian's article does not show your configuration of the connector.

I have my FPR solenoid plug and my evaporative emission purge solenoid plug cut off and labeled and I know it’s those two plugs because of the wire colors. I was hoping I could find this one by the wire colors because I don’t remember for sure where it was at , but I believe it was above the transmission on the passenger side

Care to show us those you have identified and labeled for the FPR and EVAP solenoid? That's the only connector I'm seeing in the FSM that has matching wire colors with that connector configuration. Is it possible this connector was swapped with one of those?

The fpr is red with a green wire with red stripe as seen in the second picture, the first picture is the evap solenoid which is red with a sky blue w/red stripe. My wire has a different plug ( has gray casing, but is oem because I’ve seen similar ones on the car elsewhere) and also my plug has one red wire and one green one with a BLACK strip.(the FPR has a green with Red stripe)

I meant show us the ones you have - not pictures from that article. Again, the article was documenting a 1999 model so there are differences between what it shows and your car.

The wiring diagram above shows the 95-97 EVAP solenoid is a matching connector to what you originally pictured and has matching wire colors (highlighted) for both pin positions.

1.25R = 1.25mm^2 RED wire
LG-B = 0.5mm^2 LIGHT GREEN with BLACK stripe

Coolant level sensor was only on '95s if I recall correctly and is black wire at pin 1 and blue with yellow stripe at pin 2.
Boost control solenoid is red with yellow stripe at pin 1 and red on pin 2.

1G Coolant temperature sensor is green with black stripe at pin 1 and yellow with green stripe at pin 2.

In my 1999 Mitsu factory manual the wires are the same, and it's on the drivers side intake manifold (turbo model), but the connector is the one shown in snowborder714 post #36 (https://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/2g-dsm-engine-bay-electrical-connections.298047/post-151542268).

Okay so it’s safe to say I don’t need this plug. I’m not sure what the reason was that the PO wired that plug on for but it was never plugged in anyways. I’m just trying to diagnose an issue I’m having where the car starts but dies after immediately starting and I think it’s safe to say this sensor would not be causing an issue with the car staying running :thumb: thank you guys I appreciate your help!
