I will be posting a build thread soon, sorry im im posting to many threads I cant figure out how to delete them or mark them as resolved for others to look at in the search function like I have from all the help of some great DSMers :hellyeah:

But yada yada back to the good stuff.
This build is donated to a loved one I lost due to breast cancer, so im keeping her in mind and would love others to chime in on what I can do to incorporate her name or something small but suttle into the car would mean a lot, so ideas for that would be great.

Back to the Ultra-Light idea and what I want to do with the car,
long story short, cut the bs and make it like a muscle car back in the old days, well for me and when my dad had his 72 nova that went 10.4 ( I have to beat that record) and basically DELETE everything that doesn't need to be in a car but gas brake and clutch..you get the idea. Car is stored in a heated garage thank god I have and a nice spot to sit in so Ultamite drag build is under way.

Basically im making my own ignition, own wiring harness that will be super light and tucked, and want to delete all heat/ac/ garbage underneath the dashboard, stuff that doesn't need to be in a drag car but I still want to take him out on sunday mornings to get coffee and wake the neighbors:)

wire my own headlights to a switch and brake lights/turnsignals, stuff to be legal
and keep ONLY THE SENSORS I NEED GOING TO THE ENGINE FOR THE CAR TO RUN

what ones can I delete and tune out with?
how much of this whole wiring harness through out the car can I remove?( everything I hope, my goal is to have about a 3ft harness with the ecu mounted underneath the dash somewhere

Still want to have a radio with speakers I need music.

INPUTS! lets here them guys, will post pics tomarrrow of where im at so far

I'd recommend you start searching wire tuck threads and seeing what other people have eliminated and the results of eliminating such component. I cant give you an exact list of sensors to cut off your car cause you'd probably be angry when it doesn't run after all your tedious wiring work you have ahead of you.

As for all the light weight talk I'd look into what other members have done as well. Just remember that some modifications can put you in danger, such as gutting doors and removing the crash beams. Just consider that you still want to occasionally drive it on the street and no one ever expects to be in an accident. Stock ignition is about a pound or two and good to pretty high hp, leave it as is.

^ Couldn't agree more.

IMHO, this is one of things where if you have to ask you might want to reconsider the plan. You don't need to gut a car to run 10's, and most of the time guys just end up trashing the interior and wiring for no good reason then regretting it later. Plus, the wiring harness is feathers compared to stuff like the stock rear subframe.

Unless it's a 100% trailer queen drag machine, my advice would be to shoot for your goal while keeping it a half decent street car. I don't care how fast a car is, nobody enjoys sitting in a full blown drag car for more than a few minutes. Including the driver.

true that, removing the stock radio and speakers will be 4x as much weight reduction as any wiring elimination.
in my last road course car i did a full harness, interior strip, and removed heat and a/c.
just made it anoying to drive to car shows and unsellable.
also tracing wiring issues with a custom harness is a long ordeal. compared to the 5 minute check of oem.

i just scanned all of your post real quick, it seems like you trying to do everything at once, from somebody who has tried that, and failed, its much better to keep a project pumping along if you focus on one job at a time, finish it perfectly, then continue on. keeps you from being buried with a torn apart car and no urge to complete it.

Wire harness build is underway, I appreciate the inputs guys.

My ambition for this build is priceless and it WILL be done. and done quickly yet done properly

Harness is almost done, will post finished pics soon, and I want to get it on the scale as im curious to how much weight I dropped, I have a huge box full of extra wire
