Couldn't find anything to answer this in searches..

I'm considering eventually getting a FMIC, and thus different piping, so my question is will I notice a huge difference if I just get a 1g bov w/ a flange instead of a flanged hard UICP?

I don't know if I would call it a huge power difference, but you will notice a difference. Look at the stock upper pipe behind the inake filter area, it has like 3 nasty kinks in a row. If you just get the lower part of the upper pipe that is flanged so you don't spend the money on a whole pipe, you should be good.
