hey guys tomorrow im upgrading my turbo from the stock T-25 to an EVOIII, im running on the stock fuel system, i know not to boost up to push my limits untill i do get the larger injectors, pump, and s-afc, etc. any last minute tips on things i should do / avoid doing - - - thanks :dsm:
 
Is the evo turbo ported??? If not that thing needs to be ported before you put it in because once you put a 3 inch exhaust on it will creep bad. Then you are going to have to spend a whole day taking it off, porting it, and puting it back on. Same thing with the o2 housing, you may as well port it while it's out.
 
so if i dont have the turbo ported then its gonna creap for sure, no doubt about it ? im runnin on a 3-inch apex-i N1 w/ 3-inch high flow cat . . .
 
read the FAQ on what boost creep is... it CANNOT be controlled by an MBC. it's only controlled [ or attempted to ] by porting out the wastegate, wastegate area, o2, etc.. a 34mm flapper will help too.. only sure way is an external wastegate

my advise? postpone your install until 3 days from now. every morning since you read this, spray PB blaster all over your turbo bolts ,manifold, o2. let sit at night and burn it off in the morning.. this will almost garauntee your bolts will come off fine [ without breaking any ] .. also have the car at IDLE temperature when removing these bolts. this is only done if you DONT have a torch


if your turbo is not ported and doesn't have a 34mm flapper chances are you WILL creep. port that sumofabitch out before you install it.. because if you dont, you'll end up taking it off anyway to port it out later

oh, and drain ALL fluids out prior to install... :| having coolant in your mouth is narsty

So an external waste gate will stop boost creep all together? Can you modify a stock 2g manifold to accept an external waste gate, or do you need to buy a new one all together?

Im sure you could possibly creep with an external....yes the 2g mani can be modified to fit an external gate. and no you dont need a new manifold.


oh and to the guy who posted the question... make sure you spray things down with pb blaster or some sort of penetrating stuff before you take things apart. I would also invest in new gaskets/studs(in case you snap any) and like everyone else said PORT PORT PORT also if your worried about creep you could try using a SS o2 housing with a wastegate dump that is if you wouldnt mind the sound.

I also strongly suggest porting the turbo, If you have a drill, It will cost you 6.00 to do it yourself!!!! All's you need is bits from lowes, Get two packs and you can port everything on your car before you put it back together! :)
 
I am running an RNR 3 inch 02 elim with external dump. My evo3 still creeped like a bi***. So no an external dump doesn't stop boost creep. My turbine housing will be back from SBR ported and with the 34mm upgrade today. Hopefully that will fix it!
